I beleive you , I wasn't talking about you in particular , based on your previous commments I can tell.

$h1t, I've never even been to Florida  One of the few states I haven't been to. I'd love to make an 'ITST Tour' and have us all compete against each other, in different NTRP categories; find out who the beat REAL tennis player is :)

I string, but only for myself. 4.0 player. To anyone that plays regularly, I would highly suggest your own machine. Got mine last year, best investment ever. It's like washing your car, if you know how to do it right, no one does a better job than yourself. :D

I highly suggest people don't string their own racquets. It doesn't matter how much effort you put into it, you're probably not going to do it as well as a professional - not a good professional anyway. I've seen a LOT of home string jobs and most of them are crap.

100% agree. Good stringers are rear. I might start sending my racquets to you Rob :P how much?

There is nothing wrong with string yourself, but it will take some serious time before you can do a Good job and do it Quick. In the meantime, you game will suffer  I used to enjoy washing my car and waxing it, now I just give it to car wash.

It would be great to have a real ITST tourney! I might finally win something  ...but most likely we all will get blown out by one of the juniors here.

true . the juniors can run all the balls down , but they hate trash , give them a few high bouncing balls and some short ones followed by a lob and they start losing their head and lose lol .

Well the only problem with the real ITST tour is that some people live on the other side of the world , but I have an idea , starting another thread now ...

I have an Alpha Revo, about $600 dollars.

I agree if you're stringing w/ a Klipper or some piece of junk. But I think that at the level that most people who play regularly are at, 3.0 - 4.5, as long as you have a good machine and know how to tie proper knots, you're ok. It also took me about a year to learn how to do everything properly, but my first machine was a Klipper many moons ago.

I'm sure my string-jobs aren't professional quality, but it beats paying someone $30-40 and waiting a day everytime I need my sticks restrung.

If that's the case then you need a new stringer. It shouldn't be more than a couple of hours to get your racquet back. And what type of string are you using? The only string I charge $40 for is natural gut.

But the main reason I say you shouldn't string your own is that you might damage the racquet. Even if you don't see the damage you may be shortening the life. Different racquets need to be strung different ways, and the manufacturer's instructions are not always the best way - for instance, a Head Radical needs a special pattern or it will always warp and end up about 1/4 inch shorter than when you started.

But you're probably doing just fine and I'd keep doing it myself at this point. If you ever need any advice, just let me know.

I play w/ Luxilon BB Rough. $30-40, meaning cost of pack of strings & stringjob. As you well know, poly's go dead so quickly, so it got pretty costly after awhile.

Great point, I've probably done that already w/o knowing. Damn it! :D
I'll definitely pick your brain in the future about stringing, thx dude.
