Let s go back 15 years ago, when they were courts with speed and flat bouncing balls, like Wimbledon and New York.
In the past:
AUS OPEN: average speed, average bouncing
FRENCH OPEN: slow speed, high bouncing
WIMBLEDON: the fastest speed, low bouncing
US OPEN: very fast, medium bouncing
Today it s like:
AUS OPEN: average speed, above average bouncing
FRENCH OPEN: slow speed, high bouncing
WIMBLEDON: fast speed, high bouncing
US OPEN: medium fast, medium bouncing
The sport of Tennis has finally evloved to a baseline BANG BANG BANG, any player with the skills like Edberg, Becker, McEnroe, Stich, Connors get s killed before he can evolve his skills.
Nice for Nadal and Djokovic fans, a shame for Tennis fans!!!!
You're totally right. The surfaces currently reward spin & defensive style everywhere rather than technique / offensive game. It's partly why Roger lost today : the ball was so slow...
Honestly, we're a lot to think the tennis game is in danger because of that.
