But I think there are a few things about tennis that make it different:

The equipment has changed so much since many of the greats played.
The whole 'Pre-open Era'/'Open Era' thing.
And lets face it, until fairly recent history, tennis players just weren't on the same level as athletes in other sports.

Very few boxing fans in places like eastsideboxing.com say Tyson is the greatest and some don't have him at top t\10. Also, among the more knowledgeable boxing public Joe Louis follows closely behind Ali and sometimes beats him in polls.

Tyson is massively overrated in my view and a mass of fans agree though I would like to see a more general poll sometime where it isn't on say a boxing forum but instead something like.. i dunno. bbc.co.uk maybe.

EDIT: Taking what you say absolutely literally it is absolutely true that some people will call Tyson the greatest, just in my experience not as many as who will say Foreman, Marciano, Louis or even Lewis.

What is that guy saying in your signature djarvik. It looks like, "do you get me?" Yet, that does not match his body's reaction.

But Tyson did recognize he didn't do all that he had to do since his fight at Tokyo...(was it at Tokyo?...When he first lost?...)...
He then admit he was a lot fighting for money...Like in all great boxer history/career
I saw an extraordinary docu on a French channel : i guess it was made very recently...I guess it was made just before his last "trip at a court" and a bit before his daughter died...
He was crying (!!!) by telling how he lived Cus' death, his trouble with women, sex, and by talking bout his youth...It was an incredible Docu where he appears to be a great human person...I almost cried too (!!!)...He was very honnest and sensitive...

Hey guys i know it was a while but i've found who directed that Film-Documentary about Tyson i was speaking about...
Watch it guys it's really an awesome docu where it's only Tyson speaking (facing the camera, telling about how he lived...100% honest,100% great!!!)

"TYSON" (James Toback-2008)

I wish you all boxe lovers could watch it...
