Fair enough Coke.

No disrespect to your coach and girl, but I also watch crap load of tennis (and read too) I try and not go according to a popular vote, I am trying to think for my self rather then play numbers, percentages game.

I can dig up tons of threads/posts (even here at ITST) were people proclaim boldly that Gulbis will never be inside Top 50 let alone 30 let alone 20 and NEVER in Top 10. Well.....we will see. And to say he will one day beat Roger, even on Rogers 10% day was absolutely absurd.

Nadal and Federer both played well enough to win in their matches. Especially to win the nobody like Gulbis. They both started great, in-form the first set....then....magically lost their forms and now we all say they were off.

Logic dictates that they were not off, they were put off. But common sense is not so common and we rather listen to one sided media and couch critiques then judge for ourselves.

Well - I refuse. I saw both match and I call B.S.!

Now, will Gulbis take this form further? Don't know.....but since I am a Fan - I have to say yes.

P.S. - Off to buy and even bigger Gulbis pair of goggles.

Wimbledon is a fair enough one, but Nadal wasnt great in Madrid. And you are forgetting the BIG thing, it was on clay.
You are constantly going on by media biased but you are forgetting that you are in fact, highely biased towards Gulbis, me and many other people here who are saying the same have no bias, hell i prefer Gulbis.
Players form in sets can vary, we are seeing this alot in Federer in 1000's and lower and Nadal more recently, they can play great one set then poof, just lose it, its one of the great things about tennis. Maybe Gulbis went 'on' when they lost it?

I thought you were talking about the Madrid score and saying that remember that it was on clay.

Sorry, my misunderstanding, you are still talking about the rome result 8)

OK, now I agree with you. :D

I am definitely biased towards Gulbis.

All I wanted is a freaking credit. Every-time Gulbis wins - "well, the opponent was off" Not an easy thing to swallow as a fan.

Anyway, I think we will all benefit from Gulbis playing well....hell....this Nadal match was the most fun I had in month watching tennis.

Bringing Nadal to 3 sets is a huge achievment, no matter how he is playing. Even with Nadal at 5% on clay very few players could take a set off him. He beat Federer which is always an achievment and played some awesome tennis in yet another tournament

I remember watching gulbis a few years back with my dad, and us telling each other "wow, this guy will be a top player".

Now I'm not sure anymore, sure he can be world class when he wants to. Like three weeks a year.

yeah he uses a pretty 'extreme' grip, even for an ATP pro. That's just a milisecond of his FH stroke though, I know it looks awkward but it doesn't feel as awkward as it looks. I've tried using a full Western grip and it's definitely not impossible or too awkward, but it's not for me.
