Grass

Postby Tamthewasp » Wed, 02 May 2012 01:23

How many people here have played on a teue grass court. Not a modified grass court for tournament play but an outright local grass court. The type of court where you become a mate with Jim from the council.

I never played tennus at any competetive level. I played for fun. My mates tried 2 go a decent level but they where not good enough.

So we played on grass an hard and concrete I never played clay.

Grass always used 2 be the highlight of the tennis season.,
Getting ready 2 watch Edberg Sampras hell I even looked forward 2 Pat cash.

I think it's a real shame 2 true tennis people tgat grass has gone.
The inly reason I can think of is money.

Grass games are quick and if a tourney is on T.V they do not want quick games.

Grass should be rhe ulrimate challenge of skill and technique not just 1 month of a slam .

Would love to play on a grass court, but I'm not posh enough :D
Would also love to play on a clay court, but there aren't really any in Ireland.

Sorry Sanchez but our coyntryi s full of grass. If you can't find a grass court in EIRE then you really are looking in all the wrong places. In Ireland all you need is a lawnmower some grass and a few m8s. Also is there any posh Irish people :D [/quote]

There's plenty of grass, but it's cow grass, bumpy as shit and coarse, and the ball bounces 5 centimetres off the ground ;)

Na seriously though Sanchez I ken how it is in the motherland.
Shame because grass is how tennis IMO should be played. It should be the mist used court in a season. [/i]

I'm a member of a club that has real grass courts, however it's the only actual grass courts I know of in Ireland. I'm sure there are more, but very rare

Luckily, where I live there is a mix of clay, hard and grass public courts, which are looked after well. If you ever get the chance to play on a real grass court grab it with both hands, in the summer it's all I play on.
