I realize that some will overlook the "hand moment" for Justine simply because they dislike Serena. One person who doesn't seem to completely overlook it is Justine. Seems every time she remembers RG 2003, she has to remember how she cheated in order to win. I know a lot of you guys don't like Serena but at least she has never had to cheat to win any of her many Grand Slams. Roger, Nadal, Roddick, Djokovic, Clijsters, Mauresmo, never had to cheat ever. I'm glad Henin will always feel a certain level of guilt no matter how magical she tries to convince herself it was.

I don't like to watch cheaters and steroid players. Apparently Henin was a little of column A and a little of Column B. Might want to re-think your Henin assessment.

Honestly I don't care all that much cuz she's a girl and I hate women's tennis, but I know the incident you're talking about (well everybody does I guess), and it's a little rough to paint that as 'cheating'. The years have made it into this humongous thing where Henin purposely uh..held her hand up, which um...means she was uh...cheating, or something. Yeah.

When in reality it was this pretty innocuous little thing that people have blown insanely out of proportion.

Not to mention the fact that she won 7 grand slam titles and you're taking one and saying she shouldn't have won it...BFD, she won 6 others with absolutely no accusations whatsoever!

I don't even care, that's the funny thing! I hate women's tennis with a passion! I just think it's funny that women's tennis is so insanely boring that THIS keeps on being brought up when it was EIGHT FREAKING YEARS AGO

I completely disagree. Imagine if that incident had happened to you? What would you feel like? It speaks to a player's character when they cheat. Imagine all of the clean men who lost to Mariano Puerta. How would you feel if you lost to a cheater? She was known to receive coaching from her coaches during matches where it was in violation. If you don't care then why even comment. Why even click Justine Henin when you don't care about women's tennis? Seems to me you just don't care that the victim was Serena. Not surprising.

A bit devious and unsportsmanlike, but hardly cheating.

Oh, yes I remember that match. Wasn't serena williams up serving 4 2 third set? It was unsportsmanlike sure but to compare that from using steroids is just a bit much. I mean its like calling a timeout right before a last minute field goal (in american football). Or calling a timeout right before a last minute free throw (basketball). Or calling a trainer for a "injury" timeout to somehow break an opponent's momentum (tennis). I believe the term is "gamesmanship"

Of course I don't even believe that Henin was trying to do that. She just didn't own up to it. It's not her fault that the umpire didn't see it. Should she have own up to it? maybe maybe not. But it was a seemingly innocuous act that barely made any impact on the outcome of the match. I mean it wasn't even break point! If Serena had won the match I don't think we would be even talking about this so why should we now when she lost?

And again she was up 42 third set serving. Serena Williams! mentally toughest players around let one single point affect her like that? then perhaps she didnt deserve to win that day.

I agree!

So to see this continually brought up is a bit annoying. But if you really are convinced she was cheating then I guess this could really bug you :? Haha I dunno.

Technical she was by far the best woman I ever saw on the Court. Her Backhand is still a Dream.

She was able to master everything on the court you can master in a really good way. The Netplay, defensive Baseline, offensive Baseline. She was also the completest Woman I ever saw on the Tour no matter how much more grandslams a Player like Serena won or not.

Henin was also a Person for almost impossible Shots because of her Technique and excellent footwork like a Federer at the ATP Tour.

What Justine did was no worse that when a player accepts a bad call in their favor. If that's cheating, then they all cheat. And it certainly wasn't the reason Serena lost the match - it only cost her a first serve - she lost because Justine was the better clay court player, by far.

Serena lost the plot that match, she had a lot more experience than Justine and shouldn't have let the crowd get to her like she did.

Can't say I ever liked Justine as an individual but tennis wise she had everything, her second US Open title run is still some of the best attacking tennis by a woman I have ever seen.
