Battistone Brothers - Biggest clowns around? Or geniuses?

Postby Ir0kuM4t4 » Tue, 16 Sep 2008 22:48

For those who didn't see yet, check this out. In my opinion, the serve isn't that a bad idea, because he can have more angles with that, altough physically should be quite hard. About the racket, umm, for now I'm not convinced at all, seems to be a big joke, plus these guys are already 28 and 31. When they are waiting for the balls to come, they seem to be handling those big garden scissors.

Eh...definitely not 'geniuses', but I wouldn't say 'clowns', either. There's just something too gimmicky about the double-handled racquet...maybe you get extra 'leverage' on groundstrokes, but there's too much added weight and the balance of the racquet must be ridiculous and not really suitable for high-level doubles. The serve just looks retarded to me- like a massive waste of energy. There's a reason people don't serve like that.

well, the one that has that volley serve, he reches really nice speeds. and they grew from place 1500 to 250 in one year with that raquet so maybe some credit should be given to theese two guys.

It´s a good serve, no doubt about it, but you can´t do that in singles, because after 2/3 games serving, you would be extremely tired to continue.
About the racquet, I´m not able to see the benefits, I like the classic one.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Apparently the benefit of the racket is that you develop a lot of variety. They say you naturally develop a forehand on your weak side, and can even easily do a two-handed forehand on your strong side without losing very much mobility.

I think it would at least be interesting to try it out for a few matches and give it a chance.
