He also had to deal with a changing trend in game play. He practically lived through it and stay on top. Which is to me - unbelievable.

Oh and he is not done playing yet.

No disrespect to Samprass at all, I like his games, a lot. He was my idol, the man I modeled my game after. I am still a huge fan, and being there in both areas, I can say with a certainty: Federer is a better player.

I also agree that comparing eras is kinda lame...it simply fails. Way too many "IFs" factors, variables.

I begrudgingly agree. Sampras is my hero, but Federer has stood the test of time. Then again, Sampras almost certainly wouldn't be a mainly S&V player if he came around now. Its good to talk about the best of your time. Laver was the best of his, Sampras his, Federer his.

I want a list with 100 male players.Only.
Women can go and make their own top100.I don't care. For example I just can't stand seeing Safin ranked 80th and Sharapova 10 places higher than him. It's just WRONG!
In my opinion, women's tennis is miles behind men's and should not be compared in an all-time great list.

If you was talking about the last 7 years, i agree. Up until that point, womens tennis has literally been the only female sport that could go toe-to-toe with the mens sport and offer up a decent alternative that is just as exciting and good to watch. every other one is kinda boring for men to watch, women's soccer, athletics etc. Its been a problem for years, but tennis could storngly compete, partly because of a heritage of talent right back from suzanne lenglen up to the williamseses.

True, since 2003 women's tennis has been crappy.

But ALLOT of it has to do with the slowing down of the courts. They slowed down the courts to make the ATP be less Serve & Volley dominated. Which pretty much made 90% of women's tennis be Unforced Error fests sadly.

To add to that, the whole indoor court season was pretty much cancelled. But when you watch women's tennis in the few fast courts that remain, the difference in quality is obvious.

I am by no means saying women's tennis is better quality. But when you have players like Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova, they deserve to be in the top 100 best tennis players.

All time ranking makes no sense because before the Open Tennis started, the best players weren't allowed to compete in "amateur" Grand Slams. Also Men's and Women's tennis should be separated.

You can either go mainly by statistics or all around dominance. For example Pete Sampras's subpar performances (compared to his other achievements) would count against him, just like Björn Borg's lack of USO and AO titles.

I dont think the women players got enough credit but ranking the top 10 all time would be very difficult.

All female players were ranked poorly compared to their achievements. Margaret Court at 8 and Chris Evert at 9 is a joke.

Edit: And if we include EVERY aspect in tennis and that means not only singles but also doubles/mixed doubles results and longevity, Fed would barely make the top 5.
