How I Hate the Official ATP Website

Postby Cro Morgan » Wed, 18 Jan 2012 15:46

ATPtennis.com. What a garbage site.

Granted the site exists only to promote the sport (like all other "official" sports sites) but the way they CONSTANTLY avoid any and ALL controversial subjects is brain-numbingly frustrating.

The latest: The controversial ending to the Nalbandian/Isner match.

Tennis.com, for example, is reporting:

Nalbandian lashes out at 'stupid' umpiring.

From ATPTennis.com...

Nothing.

Other than some pretty pictures (and some sappy stories) no reason for the true tennis fan to park themselves at the official ATP web site.

She's crap.

Yeah I've always thought it was pretty useless as well, but since it is the offical site for the ATP then I guess they have to be impartial on topics such as the Nalbandian argument, otherwise they might be seen to be siding with particular players, leaving any decent debate down to the unaffiliated websites.

Talking of the Nalbandian match, why was he not allowed to challenge? I don't think he could hear the overrule and the umpire because the crowd was going crazy, seemed abit unfair because I thought he was going to win.

Amen, like you say granted you get some lovely getty images, but what good is that to a straight male?

Good for the statistics but thats about it, and i cant beleive how poor that umpiring decision was, hes been around a while that guy as well so i think he should know better.

Gutted for Nalby as well as i think he would have broke Isner on his second serve and served it out, but who knows he does have a tendency of crumbling in the important moments.

The ball the ref called in was clearly out and Nalby was right. If i were in his shoes, i d have retired from the court. What the umpire decided is ridiculous.

I'm all for the umpires getting firm about not letting players challenge unless they do it quickly, but that was a pretty stupid time to start enforcing it.

Yeah, he should have been allowed to challenge.

But with that said, it's still his fault he lost the match. He could have gone out and won it afterwards and didn't get it done.

Bad overrule, but Nalby was way too slow deciding to challenge.
He also lost the match from some dumbass dropshots, not because Isner would have had to hit one second serve.
