So now he's chasing McEnroe's 39-0 start to the 1984 season

i don't think he is chasing anything he would need to win 2 clay ms1000 and a couple or more matches.

We'll just see, it's already a massive achievement to reach so many consecutive wins in the current players field

Whats the record for losses in a season? i think mcenroe went like 85-3 one year, because fed was going to equal it in 2004 or 2006, one of his top years but lost in the WTF and ended 84-4 or something like that.

McEnroe only lost 2 matches in 1984. That's just nuts.

EDIT: I guess I'm wrong. I looked it up and I'm seeing 82-3. Maybe one was in Davis Cup or something, 'cause I swear I've read/heard he only lost 2. :?

I actually thought it was a good final in terms of quality. Sure it wasn't the highest quality match ever between these two and I don't think either played at their very, very best for much of the match but considering the windy conditions, it was a decent game. There have been finals played at far worse quality due to windy conditions (The Nadal-Murray 2009 Indian Wells final springs to mind) so I'm not complaining after today!

I really thought Nadal would top Djokovic today because he must have been so pumped up to get revenge for last week and make a statement to the Serb to say 'As good a start to the season as you're having, you're not getting No. 1 from me!'. I think that's probably why Nadal looked so defeated after the match today. He seemed to take it pretty badly because I think in the back of his mind, he's really thinking about how much Djokovic is a real threat to his No. 1 status this year now.

But fair play to Djokovic, clearly the man to beat still this year. Can't wait to see how he manages on clay against Nadal!

Fed was 92-5 in 2006, 81-4 2005 and 74-6 in 2004 all insane percentages, esp for 3 years in a row.... its like 247-15 in 3 years.... 15 loses in 3 years is rediculous stats, but really does show you just how consistent he was... if only he played like that now. lol

And he'll beat Nadal on clay TWICE. The second time in the French Open final.

Two out of three aint bad. Too bad Federer had to ruin my hat trick.
