I've done it before too. I was playing tennis, and the first set we were each holding serve. I mentioned it on a changeover to the guy I was playing with, not in passing, but with the hope that it would throw off the pattern since he was serving next. Sure enough, he holds serve his game and I get broken. Ever since then I just don't say anything with the intention of something else happening. It never works.
