vibration dampener

Well i just wanna know if you use it or not, i do btw, it helps me to "feel" the racquet but some pro players like Federer, Soderling, Ferrer and many others don´t use it, these guys use "Powerpads"

btw Powerpad:

"These “dampeners” are called “power pads.” They are usually made of sections of rawhide, although you can use rolled-up scraps of leather grips or inner tube, depending on how professional you want the installation to look. If you don’t have a leather store nearby, or an old, heavy-duty leather belt that you can cut up, Grand Slam Stringers (www.grandslamstringers.com) sells strips of leather that are just the right thickness, already cut to width.
Power pads are typically used in two locations on the racquet. The first is — as you’ve noticed — inside the throat, on the center mains, where they are said to change the feel of the racquet, ostensibly due to a very small amount of “give” compared to having the string on a hard, solid grommet strip. This is probably where the “power” appellation comes from.
The second location is on the first two holes outside of the throat, where the mains have to go through the frame at a sharp angle. Here, the power pads are most beneficial because they increase the radius around which the string must bend, reducing breakage."
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

I use it. Mainly because I have had serious problems with both my elbows (not because of tennis) and don't want to take any chances. I also like the feel of the raquet more with the dampener than without it.

I hate dampeners. im the opposite, i feel less with them in. It feels too solid for me. I also dont like the racquet feeling too bouncy. AeroPro drive with no dampener is perfect for me.

Tried the Aerostorm, without dampener, and at the same time a Pure storm with one. I never got a feel for the Aero-concept. But I haven't tried a Aeropro drive. It ended up with me buying a Pure storm, great raquet. :D

Anyone tried the Agassi-rubberband-dampener trick? Is it as good as a normal dampener?

I used to use a dampener when I played with natural gut, but now that I string with all Luxilon I don't use a dampener or else my racquet feels totally dead.

BTW KludKalle they don't help with tennis elbow one bit, that's just a myth  Also, yes I've tried the 'Agassi rubber band' thing (that's what I used when I used a dampener) and it works just as well as a dampener that you can buy at a tennis shop.

BTW if you're going to use a dampener, this is the Holy Grail of dampeners: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Pete_Sa ... EDAMP.html

best dampener on the planet, period. I used to switch between a rubber band and this...I tried a lot of other dampeners but this is by far the best.

I like myths, just look at my sig. :)

But I don't have a tennis elbow problem. My elbow problem is much more complex and is something I was born with. So just to be on the safe side I try to dampen as much vibration as I can. And my problems (while playing tennis a couple of times a week) is pretty much non existing now days. But it could just as well be psychosomatic. :D

Jay is right, they do almost nothing to "soften" the racket. It's for sound/making your strings quieter.
