That's a bit of bad news for Delpo fans and tennis in general.
Hopefully he can make a full recovery and return to the courts sooner rather than later.

Del Potro undergoes wrist surgery

Juan Martin Del Potro announced this Tuesday morning that he'll be having wrist surgery in the United States and said that "malicious and fake statements about both his mental and physical conditions were around".
Del Potro wrote in a letter: "Today, May 4th I'll get a FCU tendon surgery, I tried to avoid doing this going through several treatments but the injury was clearly worse.
Clearly is not a good moment for me but I know I'll get over this"

Was this his right wrist? So much of his game depends on these strokes....very sad indeed.

Shame it has took so long to decide on the surgery considering where he may have been at now if he had done it in February.

yeah, but that´s curious cause in my opinion he doesn´t "move" his wrist a lot to hit his FH, don´t you think?, although i know we all move the wrist to hit a tennis shot, it´s just that Del Po´s power comes from the arm rather than the wrist, in my opinion

Oh yeas he does Xavi. He takes it back with his wrist tight, but then creates a whip effect when he hits the ball.

I find his forehand very robust, simple and anyone looking to copy/replicate a stroke from Pro should seriously look at his motion. Not much can go wrong with it.

you edited your post. lol

I disagree again (I know, very original of me). Power should not come from the arm. Yes, arm plays a role, but a proper shoulder turn with relaxed arms and good technique will generate the most power. Arm gives that spin on his ball, by brushing the ball.

Sad for Del Po'. But he is young, has won his favourite Grand Slam so he got time to make a great career.
Anyone's know about Davydenko's left wirst injury state?
