Haven't we been here before, his form is not so good but it's still doesn't mean too much when we get to the Majors.

His form is fine. Stop excusing his loses with "lack of form". Gulbis committed more errors then Fed, hit more winners too. He served better, had more break points, crushed his second serve. Even in the post match interview Federer admitted that starting from second set he had tough time on serve with Gulbis's power. Did it ever even occur to you guys that when Federer loses its because the guy on the other side wins?

I watched the whole match. It was the same Federer as we always see.....just playing against a better opponent today, opponent that was able to drug him into his type of game and make Federer go for more with good defense, and make him miss, and make him change his serving patterns with great returns. Federer failed. Period.

Gulbis's game is unpredictable, it is hard for Federer to read. He can smack the crap out of the ball and at the same time play very soft. He will always struggle against Gulbis, always. The key is playing defensively and let Gulbis hit himself out of the match.....Federer didn't want to...no he can't...do that. He is an attacking player as well.

It is what it is, I agree with DJ that the focus should be on Gulbis winning rather than Federer losing.

Tennis matches are always about one player not performing, could have done more .etc.etc. That's tennis, rarely do players play at 100% of their capabilities, it's more about forcing your opponent to play poorly, Gulbis did that today.

If everyone played as well as they could, Federer would always win, that's why he is Number 1, if only it was that simple.

At this early stage of his career, Bellucci is already showing the potential to become one of the best head cases out there.

The answer is : no, for sure, but because he mades uncommon mistakes, as his very low percentage of 1st serve and he made plenty of forehand faults, which is quite rare on his game when he is at his top level.
He is forgivable, because he made a long period without matches before, but he has to increase his game regularity before RG.
Anyway, congrats to Gulbis, who, like said fedfan, managed to make federer play poorly.
