Welcome to Shanghai Rolex Masters 2013 on the ITST Tennis Elbow 2013 Pro Tour! In the post US Open part of the season there is less activity, hence a smaller field here. The Draw is out:

Draw

butcher picked Cilic, who is NOT selectable anymore -- he picked him before that was technically realized. :c

Good luck everyone!

Well it wasn't a sarcasm I was serious, I mean, Uga is still a top20, you didn't play for a while online, and you were not far, so it's a good perf ;)

thanks robin.

I played well, and it seemed woowhat was a bit out of form. I'm improving. Next opponent is richie, so big trouble. I took him to a tiebreak in our only official match, so i'm confident i can pester him a bit. I'm hoping to at least make it a respectable scoreline.

Your words sound like Gasquet Fez : you should hope to get a victory, it's a looser mindset what you said!!

I've just seen something interesting : Tdbchess "Diva" & Felipe M are competing for the 8th spot of the Masters and they will play each other the R16 of Shanghai.

As they have an equal amount of points at the race, this match can be decisive !

Florian (Federer) d Richie (Murray) : 7-5/4-6/7-5

-1st set : We begin the match with a double break on each side and then we kept our serve until he breaks me on his first set point at 5-6.
-2nd set : We have both kept our serves until 3-2 for him (if I don't make a mistake), I save a break point here before breaking him 0-40 at 4-4 and finally gets the set which I was close to lose.
-3rd set : I couldn't convert my break point in the first game but could finally break him at 4-4 again to serve for the match. After leading 30-15, he comes back with some great shots and debreak on his first occasion. Finally I got broken again 15-40 at 5-6 and he gets the match.

First of all I want to congratulate him, he made a pretty good match and mine was quite great also. I was not really helped by my serve which was under 50% for a while while he got 75% serve with Federer which he used perfectly behind with Federer's forehand and sometimes backhand down the line which worked really well today. From my side I went for an offensive strategy which cost me a lot in the last game where I made 4 mistakes to give him the match. In important moments I hardly accept to be the one defending and prefer taking more risks to have the control of the point, but here with Murray it was probably not the good strategy and was a bit too much. :c

From my training matches with him I knew that against defenders he played really well so I'm not surprised he gave me so much trouble. It's gonna be hard in the final but I hope he can make it !

Anyway, I'm now looking toward Bercy and of course the WTF which will be my objective at the end of the season.

Thanks Richie,

Very interesting match tactically speaking. First of all with Murray's spin I first got broken to love and thought this would be a nightmare. But once i broke back and held, I felt confident, was able to alternate defensive and offensive play, and very important serve worked very well today.

We didn't try our luck too often at the net, I was personnally not confident enough against such a good passer as Richie is, so the result is that sometimes we had to rally a lot more than we usually do, to conclude points. I was very happy to see that I was winning quite a lot of long rallies, especially at the end of the match. His stamina dropped pretty fast at times so that was probably also a reason why he had to be aggressive.

Anyway it was a very nice to turn that 3rd set in my direction, I'm very happy to have my first big result of the post-Autopos-free era, and I'm expecting an even more difficult match in the Final.

Good luck in Paris, we'll be batteling home with a few others ;)

Nice performance Florian, especially against such a Murray, on this high rebound surface !

A little report about my match vs Pidzi, which he won 6-2 6-2 (Djokovic vs Fed). I had the feeling I was more or less at the level throughout the match (we scored the same amount of winners) but as at the US Open tournament, I had no realism or luck as you want, whereas he was a killer on the important points.

He got a break at the very beginning (despite the fact I won the very first exchange of 36 shots...) and during his next service games, I had break points opportunities to come back but he saved them. For instance at 3-2, 15-40, he scored two aces which really frustrated me. So 4-2, and afterwards he got an opportunist break due to the disappointment, 5-2 then 6-2.

At that time I got out of the match because of the frustration, I let him record a new break at the beginning of the set with 4 extremely stupid UE on my service and a new break afterwards to lead 4-0...

At that moment I woke up, played again at a the level required, brang him two times to 0-30 situation on his two last service games, but never suceed to break him.

Globally speaking I had the feeling to play two seperate matches : a match from 0-0 to 30-A where I played at the level required and another match which he dominated : all the points around 30-a, 40-a and the break points stuff.

Anyway my global feeling is good, the stats confirmed this in a way (very low first service % of 52 for me which really didn't help, 50-50 on long exchanges...). I'm now looking forward the Indoor season where I really feel more confortable as on Grass due to the very quick exchanges !
