So...whom to replace fat Dave ? :D

Postby Florian » Fri, 04 Oct 2013 10:41

Everything is in the title ^^ (obviously talking about the roster)

I'd personally vote for Paire since :

- Benneteau is too close from Stepanek
- Janowicz is too close from Isner
- Robredo too close from Almagro (not that close but you know what I mean)
- Fognini too close from Nishikori/Goffin

No fognini. He's so unstable, I wonder if he has fans at all.
Benneteau. Meh.
Robredo. Too old.

However janowicz would be welcome. Apparently he's 13kg ligher than isner. That will make him tiny bit faster.

Overall I agree with Paire. He's the only player in the tour who goes around the ball to hit backhand. + he also uses dropshots like Janowicz. He's the same height as berdych but obviously he's faster because of lower weight.

Guys, no need to vote for any player as replacement for Nalby since the next ITST version gonna have include extended roster ( to something like over 60 players overall ) so just be patient.

Nalby will still be gone though, we only keep "current" players.

Maybe a "retired' roster as a separate profile will be nice, we have so far:

- Roddick
- Lubicic
- Nalby

would be nice :)

Also Soderling is planning to return on the tour, it could even be this year, he said he will try it at Bercy so who knows.

I think Fognini deserves to be on ITST roster for the great matches he played on summer clay and also for good matches with Nadal and Djokovic, but specially cause he has nice forehand and backhand
An Italian player, for me, must be present :)

hey.

Well first i have to tell you guys that if 1.16 is late it's mostly because, first, summer times, and also cause i have some health issue impairing a bit my vision so my eyes get tired pretty quickly and i have to be cautious with it not staying too long watching a monitor. This is why it's running late.

So about 60 players, i don't know, it's what i planned at first, not completely sure it will become a reality right away but for sure there will be a bunch of new chars. What is already ready technicaly is to extend the roster from 36 to 60 slots, wich will allow to avoid two distinct rosters/profiles.

About the new players well, janowicz sounds a good addition, especially as Megyaem released good dedicated animations (serve and forehand), though this player abilities are probably a bit difficult to translate to TE keeping the balance acceptable, considering he's another 140mph server, but also has better movement abilities compared to Raonic or Isner. He can't have it all so obviously we'll have to deviate from reality a bit about him. We can make him a sort of Raonic clone or choose to make him more of an all-around guy gimping a bit his serve. Just a first guess.

Paire could be nice as well. The only dedicated animation available is the BH, from Phucnguyen (the guy who made Gulbis anims). The motion is pretty good, but unfortunately, testing it i found that the impact sweetspot is a bit off (too close to the body), wich can be bothersome gameplay wise. I pm'ed Phucnguyen @ MG about it, he answered he'll make a v2 to fix it, though it's already one month ago and so far there is no new version available.

Just wanted to drop a line about it. So for now i can't really progress as fast as i'd like to. But still around moving forward in small steps.

Ok that's all right. Tennis season is nearing its end, so you better not release until World Tour Finals. Then you can work if you want to until january.
I think the most important thing is extending character sheet slots. Once you do that I think everyone can save player from World Tour as well.

What's going on with relation to Sam Megapatch 2013? Can you use those players? It's amazing, he has all the legends as well as current niemenen, paire, chardy, granollers and really big variety of them. He has good animations as well.
But of course I'm guessing it's really hard to import the whole player with everything. Files must be all over the place. Like character stats, outfits, anims and their mood.

I agree with Uchiha that version 1.16 shouldnt take effect before the end of the current season because it took affect players badly for the most anticipated tournament of season - WTF.

@ Uchiha Muss

From sam patch i mostly use importation only to get references to the right face textures files wich i integrate manually. Also for some outfits files. I download and integrate anims manually using the 'official' anim thread @MG,
and sometimes watching on Megyaem facebook and so on. I usually skip some older anims when the sweetspot is not correct, aslo in some anims there is several additionnal positionnal steps in the loop wich renders those anims more tricky to position the char properly so we've not exactly the same database. Using MG thread also helps to keep track of author names etc. So there is nothing much going on i mean, we're not integrating Sam patch offline character database in ITST mod. In the end, just using texture files from the players we're interested in, and then customizing them, anim, stat wise.

@ pidzi

Good times for me if there is no hurry for you guys :)

Not sure i' will integrate rogerfed1 new scoreboards (well mostly statboards cause our scoreboards are nice already).
Their new custom statboards are nice of course, compared to the default TE blue statboard, but they usually lack some stats info we like to see, like average rally length, and often some other stats are lacking, dpending the tournament. Also they are designed for offline so they lack the reputation controls wich are good to have for online mode. So i don't know, that would be some additionnal work to modify all of them to add these, and not a priority for ITST mod progress for now. I'm still thinking about designing some custom ITST scoreboard though, using ITST colors, red, white etc.. dunno yet.

I think so, too. I'm pretty sure there would be more interest in tournaments and some random exhibitions with an update, not to speak of other things.

I'm not against this update before WTF as well. I think the most important thing beyond the roster is to make the characters as offensive as possible with a real change at the net.

We need to to make the "netplay" as it always was before the last update, where you could volley and anticipate very precisly without auto-pos. This required skills rare players actually had ; today this part of the game has become utterly uninteresting, because it requires no skill (just pre-press, no anticipation is required, what a shame !!) and it's frustrating not to get shots you caught in the past...

I know you all know about this issue, but it's important not to loose sight of this big problem we have since Roland Garros (a problem that has a serious impact on the variety of the gameplay and the matches). The roster is far less important in my opinion, it's a very cosmetic thing.

Except that "net issue", with a 4-5 months experience on 1.15, I think it's a really great version in terms of balance and baseline gameplay.
Maybe the other little thing I could have critized is the rebound on hard court, which should have been lower. It indeed prevents characters like Fed to be exploited well in my opinion and it gives too much credits to guys like Ferrer, Simon and so on who combinate good skills in attack and defense (whereas in real life, it's a surface which advantages mainly the full offensive guys).
