amazing stretch

So, just played an insane match. Vs 1800 elo player who was using Fed. A good player, have played him before.
Almost all my serve returns went deep, my strikes in general were nice and deep.It was too easy. I beat him easily 6-3.
The whole match just felt like I was never threatened...could easily get his balls, even the ones on the line....Here's the interesting part. I was in lobby and he had just played Vamosrafa and beat him 6-0, then me and Vamosrafa played and i won 6-3 in a tight, difficult match. Then i play this guy who beat rafa 6-0 and smoke him easily. It all makes no sense. Don't give me the bs about different player styles being the reason. Player style has way less effect than we would all like it to have. Lets be realistic, its about moving and hitting and timing and aiming. A bit about shot selection, yes. But "styles" are a marginal influence here.

Being on the good side of things just confirms everything I've been saying all along. There's another factor that influences games. I watched the replay of this and he was hitting accels, short accels alot, we were on us open court---a court I've been playing for a long time. The ping was 180 and he set delay at 184 (too high i told him). I've played many times in these conditions, and tonight was just crazy. I wasn't even hitting all my shots on my strings and they were still flyin deep! I could almost do no wrong!

When will you doubters begin believing?

Number of factors that could realistically have happened and changed things:
1. 1800 ELO hasn't played in a while.
2. 1800 ELO tried to be offensive all the time and committed red circle errors. Played close to baseline.
3. VamosRafa is similar to you and played deep from the baseline therefore not making the mistakes of 1800 ELO.
4. Better ping=better auto-pos return on serve. That's 1800 elo might have struggled like me in higher delays.
5. One of them might be a more net player like me and screwed up a little more.
6. 1800 ELO had excellent connection with rafavamos and had trouble playing with you in different delay, while you saw no
significant changes.

All in all, for me there is one important factor online: Weirdly timed combo shots. Deep strikes don't matter because it can happen to anyone if they chose the right strike to hit. Deep slices and so on.

I don't know why I have to even explain this. I have eyes and ears, I can SEE what shot is being hit and where its being hit from. He was hitting shots a normal amount behind baseline, didn't matter if he hit topspins, normals, or accels----I hit everything back deep. And I have eyes to see that he was hitting most shots with the strings. Good position and timing. Nothing unusual about his play that CREATED my deep balls (which is what you would have me believe). I just hit everything back deep. He played like 80% of the players on here play, nothing different, nothing unusual. Dammit.

It was really obvious on serves too. He hit serves in corner, i stepped to side like i always do, but this time 75% of my returns just flew deep. No reason. Same scenerio. Vs Fed on us open in 184 delay. No variation. just my returns went deep all day long.
And you didn't address what I said. My shots were flying deep no matter what i did almost. Mishits were going deep over and over! Explain that Coochie!

It just hit me the what the explanations everyone offers are like....like the one uchi just offered above: Its like saying
Federer beats Nadal 6-4 5-7 6-4 7-6 at Wimby then Murray beats Federer in a close match then Nadal beats Murray 6-0 6-0 6-0 because its was on clay and Murray's shoes were too tight. These LITTLE explanations do not explain HUGE changes in a match.

I wish i could lock threads. I'd lock it. There is nothing to be said but the same @#!?
