I guess I am the first to report, as I have something worthy of reporting.

djarvik def. TWM-Fox

This is my first top 10 win and scalp :D Granted, Fox maybe a bit out of shape early in the season...but he still presents a mountain Everest of a challenge for me personally. I am glad I was able to make it close, as I know I can hold my nerve when the game is close. Most times I don't get the opportunity to show that off unfortunately.

My serve was working great today. Not so much as high percentage, but clutch-wise it was bailing me out a lot from difficult situation, of which there were plenty. There were lots of momentum shift and lots of rallies, even the short ones were around 5 shots. I did feel right away in the first set that the only way I will win is if I keep him guessing on serves and hit my spots on the clutch serving. All worked well in the first set and we found ourselves in tie break. I quickly got up 3-0 and closed it out. I had a huge help from the net in this tie break - so thank you to all net-makers around the world!

Second set was a roller-coaster. Fox was a bit baffled in the first game, but then woke up and came on strong, playing his best at this point. He broke me to go up 3-2...I immediately broke back...we then held one game each. at 4-4 after a string of errors on my part I got broken at 15. He then closed it out with 40-30.

Third set it was back to basics. I was thinking to myself "just serve well and keep it simple". We were on serve till 3-3 when he broke me. All games were really close at this point, both returners were getting to 30 and deuce. So when I got broken, I felt that I need to simply stay in this one to have a chance, and have him try to serve it out. At 5-3 I was down 15-40 while serving. I managed to serve my way out of trouble. 5-4 Fox serving for the match. He gets a match point at 40-30. I erase it and race back to break him. Into the tie break we go. I suddenly felt at home, zoning in on my serve. We exchanged mini breaks early and stayed on serve till the last point, were I managed a good return and took over the rally, a well placed FH into the corner and the victory was mine.

I want to thank Fox for match and a fair play and wish him all the best.

You could instead give us .dmo file. It's less than 500 kb in size and we'd be able to see the match you're excited about as well.

btw your next opponent is Richie. I have no words for you, but in simple terms it's RUN AWAY situation. I'm positively sure you will get lost from the Sony Open.

Unbelievable victory. Before you began, I told Robbin Djarvik will do a surprise vs Fox :D
What is even more exceptional is that Fox won more points than Djarvik, and Djarvik made less UE than winners ^^

You got the wrong match correct from your predictions. But I'm really happy for Al, great victory -- even if Fox is not at his best, he is always a tough challenge.

Al made more errors than winners: 40 winners to 45 errors. One of the few matches in the recent time where the one taking risks has been rewarded.

R16 Florian def. Robbin 4-6 7-6 7-6 Definitely not an interesting match even if the score seems interesting. Connexion was very annoying since it was glitching quite often especially in the 3rd set where we just kept apologizing at the end of most points...basically who ever took control of the point was winning it. No way to turn points around. All the match seemed extremely slow for my taste, very boring and it was certainly harder to finish points quicker than before 1.13.

So here it is, in the 1st set i did a bad serve game when we rehosted for the 3rd time at 2-2 and he kept the advantage till the end.
In both 2nd and 3rd set i was in survival mode, either pushing or serve and volleying to keep myself alive. It seemed to have worked a bit better than vs Richie's Verdasco (since last week my laptop is about to die, all images i see are framed, some buttons are not responding in time and my windows button is broken in two parts ^^) but it's mostly because he did more ues in both tbs and my pushing was a bit more effective.

Anyway it still proves that even when you're "obliged" to send short defensive shots and get aced many times you can still find some solution and hope for a loss of concentration from the opponent in key moments.

GL next time and sorry it had to end that way.

Well as Florian said he won it, I'm happy that the score was so close. Before the match I hoped that I could be a close match, well it was, though it didn't had much tensioned moments.
My tactic was to not give him any rhytm as I know if does get that he's lethal. Tactic worked pretty well, though I had to give up on some points I normally don't do which lead to some love games on his service.
I was mostly in control during my services games, not giving away one break point after my first service game. It was like the matches I played at Cincinatti with Berdych. I know it's not much fun to play for the opponent (I am supposed to have the capability to let my opponent fell a sleep ^^) as there are few intense moments and long rallies. The first set I was able to convert my second break chance and served it out with one difficult game on the way (4-3 couple of times deuce).

The second set he started well, so I let go some of his service games. At 4-4 I decided to put some extra effort in it. Did get to 15-30 and there I missed an aggresive BH (aiming was perfect but the ball went wide). I still didn't had trouble at my service and we got to the tiebreak. I knew he would step up a bit in his level, but was unable to respond. A deserved victory in this tiebreak, missed my chance this set at 4-4.

In the third set I was dissappointed in the beginning, but from 15-30 in my first service I decided to fight. We both couldn't do much at eachother services as the turtles became more frequent and it became increasingly difficult to turn points around. Unsuprisingly it went to the tiebreak. First point I did hit a good first service, getting a safe shot back. Somehow I don't do the required little step to the left and I get a orange aiming zone leading to an really stupid minibreak for him. He did hit two aces as I was annoyed by my mistake, before I could do something back: 3-1. Then he did some good defending (as I want to call it instead of pushing) getting some balls back which I thought were finished, at the last of them I was so suprised I couldn't do anything at all leading to a no-shot which he finished. I got back to 5-4, but two S&V points finished with a smash gave him the victory.

Well played from him and it was his experience + net play which was decisive in my opinion. Good luck in the next rounds!

Aces have to be reduced with 8 on both sides as they were used to get to 2-2.

vramvrim def. inseedious 7-6(3) 6-2

His connection was better than the previous time we met but there were some turtles, packet losses and desyncs that sometimes were a bit annoying.
In the first set he hit a lot of nets (about 10), but despite that I didn't give him any break point. At *5-6 I hit my first net and went 15-15 or 15-30 (I don't remember), then I managed to go on 15-40 but the first set point was deleted with a short defensive mishit by him, the second was wasted by me trying a short acceleration that was unexpectly and unexplainably hit in the orange hit point. We had a long game with 1 or 2 desyncs and then we went to the tiebreak I was a bit frustrated and my Federer was very tired because of long rallies and some desyncs, so he obviously won the tiebreak without problems.
In the second set there were more turtles and packet losses, I lost my first service game and was penalyzed again by desyncs and the connection problems I mentioned, so I was not able to recover the break despite some opportunities at 40-40 on his serve. Then I lost again the service despite having game points on 2-5 and gave him the match.

I didn't play a bad match, but I feel a bit disappointed because of wasted opportunities and very annoying little and insidious problems about connection. Also it seems that he was able to hit winners more easily, maybe I have to change player cause I'm a bit sick of playing Federer and have to hit lines to close points, also considering that his netplay is almost useless vs good passers and counterers.

Still Alive: VMoe86 (Federer) prevails against Sedas (Federer) 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-0

Uff, what a match. First congrats to Sedas for a great fight in the first two sets: Both of us could have won in straight sets! Very solid game, but he cannot use Short Accelerations effectively and this hurts him a lot.

However, the match was heavily disturbed by Desyncs. I think in the first two sets I've experienced as many (or even more) Desyncs than in my whole TE Career (and I'm here since the first day, where Desyncs were in every match ;)). I think there was a Desync in almost every point. Even worse, sometimes two or more Desyncs for the same point. The worst was probably when a Desync happened after the change ends game was completed: No Stamina recovery for the next game. :c Thus we had many low Stamina points, overall Stamina below 50% for large parts of the first two sets.

We both gave back the points where it was clear the opponent won the point or used the appropriate serve (2nd serve or 1st serve) after the Desync, but one can only wonder how some points would have ended without the Desyncs. I definitely did not feel comfortable on court in these conditions, always wondering "What if..."

Well, first set I started serving, got to 30-0 and then out of nowhere got broken. He consolidated the early break and was always in the return games, but I managed to save break points and escape 0-30 or 15-30 situations. I managed to get the early break back and was holding more comfortably then and after leading 5-4 I got to a double set point: 15-40. I felt so bad about getting double set point (a Desync point where I would have reached the ball, but highly doubted my chance of winning the point), so I let the first set point go past me as an ace. The second set point I also did not play with focus.

So, we continued holding until the tie break, I think I saved break point at 5-5. In the tie break I got the 1-0 and the 2-0 was again a situation comparable to getting double set point: I felt bad about it. Suddenly I was down 2-3 and couldn't get the mini break back.

After the first set, both our Staminas were below 50%, so I suggested to rehost because it would be a struggle. He wanted to continue under these conditions, so I accepted it and fought. I got an early break and held on to it, but I had to dig out of several 0-30 or 15-30 situations. At times I was striking the ball very well, but with the danger of no Stamina recovery I also hesitated to accelerate where I normally would do so. I won the second set 6-4, but could have lost it as well if some points turned out differently.

After 1 hour and 5 minutes the first two sets were finished, over 160 points had been played. Sedas was too tired to continue and offered retirement from the match, which I did not accept. I suggested to continue on Tuesday evening and so we did. But Sedas was not as good as yesterday: Not hitting the ball with the sweetstpot almost all the time, not defending as well. He told me he was experimenting a bit with controls (using d-pad instead of analog stick) after Florian served him a bagel today in an exhibition (merci beaucoup 8) ). After I broke him in the first game he kind of gave up and I walked away with a 6-0 in the deciding set, phew. Oh, and hardly and Desyncs this time around. :)

Good game, Sedas!

Strange to see a so low amount of net points, Federer should go to the net at least in 25-30% of the points to be fully exploited
