BNP Paribas Masters

No topic open for this so opening one.

Just lost (again :( ). This time to Norberto.

I hit more winners and hit less errors than Norberto and somehow managed to lose this match. Highly annoying.

Good luck against Vmoe, Norberto. Got a feeling you might need it

Maybe this surface is too slow? Anyone noticed the same thing?

You were definitely very unlucky. I felt overpowered most parts of the match, and most times you seemed in controll of it, I was just fighting to survive. Just watched our match again, and I think that you've been the slightly better player all over the match, except for the tiebreak and the last game (maybe doing a double fault in each of these games decided this match). I am sorry for you, but I am also happy about my first ITST TE win.

Against Vmoe, I don't need luck, not at all. I'm gonna crush this guy, make him retire...

Well, to be serious again, I REALLY don't need luck against him, would I need luck if I played Federer in real life, no I would not, no matter if I was the luckiest or unluckiest person in the world, I wouldn't win a single point anyway.... :D

I hope that post didn't sound too angry. It was just a tough loss.

Congrats on your first win man...I know you've been training hard and you deserve it :D

Hope to play you again soon :D

It is way too slow. Feels a lot more like the speed of a clay court to me....

Don't have that feeling of slow, but don't like it as well : I've the feeling the ball is hard to see on it (because the landing point of the ball appears less as the court is dark.

Checked it. this court has the same physics than other indoor hard courts, so it shouldn't feel slower.

Though. Since 1.0f the movement / changing direction is easyer / more assisted due to the auto-thing-i-don't-like new "assist" ( ;) ) and also due to a lowered forward/left-right inertia.
This is resulting globally in an increased ball reach around the court. Thus the top speeds among the roster are now a bit too high (i think 85-87 as a max should be enough, to be tested ). Indoors are still much faster than clay though , the slower hard court wich is close to clay is Plexicushion ( AO surface ).

Therefore it's clear that we'll have to review the speed stats & release a 1.11 before the clay season because of this (even before AO should be better, maybe just a quick speed fix). Why not tweak down a bit the bounce on indoor hard as well if needed.

Valencia and Paribas are hard indoor both, but valencia seems a Ferrari court, Paribas seem to be a bicycle court

They use exactly the same physics :) It's probably because you are using 2D mode and the cameras are much different. Try 3D with a fixed cam and you should have the same speed feeling for both (by the way Paribas masters 2D cam is really bad imo but there wasn't any better available, better switching to 3D for this court).

Ill try that when i get home this evening. But i played my ITST match on Paribas and after that a few practise matches on Valencia and US Open and the difference was very big. Id be surprised if switching to 3d with a fixed camera is all that is needed to bring the two together.

Yes, in 3D same feeling for Valencia and Bnp Paribas ! Do you think that this big difference is only for this court ?

Fact is, there is no difference at all. This feeling is just due to the different cam view. So you may also have this feeling with 2D courts wich have similar cams, like London WTF finals i think for instance.

djarvik (M.Youzhny) defeats Don (R.Federer) 6-3 6-2

I broke earlier in the first set, at 3-1 and never looked back. Don moved well, but took a lot of risks that were not paying off and my serving was fantastic that day. I don't think I served better and I don't think I will again :P

I had break points in almost every Don's serve and these games went on and on, as I was not able to convert break points.

Next up is Otlichno. I'd be happy to lose with the same score I won today, his level is way above mine, so my challenge will be winning games, not a match. The few times I played him I won 1-2 games
