ITST TE Tour Match Facts for 2012 Season

Postby C4iLL » Tue, 25 Sep 2012 23:21

I've got a new idea of topic about the tour : statistics about Tie-Breaks.

EDIT by VMoe86: Even better idea, make this a statistics thread.

The Tie-Break Killers

- The king of tie-break : Fox.
An impressive stat of 15 won, 5 lost. Murray has currently exactly the same stats (15-5) :c

Image
After a defeat during the ITST Wimbledon final, a title @ Olympics and US Open, and now this strange tie-break stat, a lot of people think Fox is actually a clone of Andy Murray

- Knight , who led 2 sets to 0 at US Open against Fox, has also a nice ratio with 6-2, and L Sanchez MD as well with 4-1 !

The Tie-Breaks Loosers

- No active italian player has currently a positive ratio tie-breaks ! If you cumulate the stats of the whole Squadra Azzura (Elio, Inseedious, Toni and Goroger) you get : 18-31
Il Grande Fabio Fognini (22-20) is even better ! What could be the solution for the italian mafia ? Maybe they should think less about spaghetti, football and ragazze ! Or paying the referee ?

- The worst player in tie-break is then not a Bulgarian Mutant, but italian off course. It's Goroger1 ranked 20, who has a nice statistic of 3 tie-breaks won for 14 lost !

- Our so loved Mutant Dimitrov is second in this "worst of the worst ranking" with an impressive 5-9.

Image
Dimitrov doesn't seem to appreciate that statistic...

Thanks to him, Ugadalou has almost now a balanced ratio (9-11). Nice Uga !
Kyuji, n°1 in the ITST ranking, is surprisingly among the worst players with a disappointing 2-5 statistic. Algo4 with 1-4 is not a tie-break killer as well :)

Full stats :

kyuji : 2-5
fox : 15-5
Elias : 4-3
Uga : 9-11
Otlichno : 4-6
Eliomelma : 8-9
Vmoe : 5-4
C4iLL : 9-8
Polca : 5-4
Robbin : 6-8
San99 : 6-6
Dimitrov : 5-9
Tonigno : 5-7
Inseedious : 3-5
PerfectAce : 6-6
L Sanchez MD : 4-1
D Ornelas : 1-4
Goroger1 : 3-14
Knight : 6-2
Aziz : 2-2
Rodrigues : 0-2
Rounders : 2-2
Algo : 1-4
Marco : 1-3
Kono : 3-3

We could say as well, that Otlichno is the clone of Nadal (because we all know Moralspain is the REAL Nadal).
Winning the title at Roland Garros, hasn't returned in courts after his/hers Wimbledon defeat!

Where are you Otli?Recover from your knee injury, stop supporting the WTA in the forums and come play with us again! :D

I like Match Facts (see for example http://www.atpworldtour.com/Matchfacts/ ... nding.aspx). I add some value, because you mentioned this here:

C4iLL wrote:That + the fact you lost against Fox with match point + 5-3 or 5-4 on your service in second set, make you one of the special guy of the tour :c

VMoe86 Break Points Converted in the last 15 matches

38 out of 127 (29.9 %)

A comparison: Isner in 2012 is 31%, Gulbis 36%. :c

VMoe86 Break Points Saved in the last 15 matches

43 out of 67 (64.2%)

A comparison: Ferrer in 2012 has saved 65% break points.

VMoe86 Return Points Won in the last 15 matches

41.1 %

A comparison: Ferrer in 2012 has won 44% return points, Federer 41.5%.

Conclusion: My return is not the problem, just how I handle break points. :P

Good comparison, I also thought about it.

Nice thread and nice idea. Really funny to find out all those similarity with Murray.

And i didn't know i played that much of tie break and i won 3/4 of them lol. Thats impressive to see i've played really tied matchs those last days.

I guess that thread would alert Kyuuji and Dimitrov on their game when they are push to the limit :P

A special service for TWM-Fox, the Tie-Break King: Based on 19 matches of which I found the stats of the matches on the forum, I did a little statistics overview.

TWM-Fox Matchfacts from 19 matches in 2012 season

Character used in these matches: Federer

Avr 1st Serve Percentage: 69.37%

Aces per Match: 15.63 (Total Aces 297)

Double Faults per Match: 1.53 (Total Double Faults 29)

Avr Fastest Serve: 209.32 kph or 130 mph (Total Fastest Serve 220 kmh or 137 mph, was against me  )

Avr 1st Serve Speed: 188 kmh or 117 mph

Avr 2nd Serve Speed: 151 kmh or 94 mph

Winners per Match: 47.11

Errors per Match: 31.05

Winner + Aces to Error + Double Faults Ratio: 1.93

Net Approaches Won: 53.6% (Total Net Approaches 207)

Break Points per Match: 8.32

Break Points Converted per Match: 3.79 or 45.6%

Break Points Faced per Match: 6.26

Break Points Saved per Match: 4.53 or 72.4%

Short Rallies Won: 56.32%

Medium Rallies Won: 54.11%

Long Rallies Won: 53.89%

Points won on 1st Serve: 75.84%

Points won on 2nd Serve: 59.26%

Return Points Won: 42.58%

Break in Game with Break Point: 3.79 out of 5.26 or 72.1%

I did the same for me (and will do for no other person besides Fox :p, but it would be nice if some would do the same and post it :)):

VMoe86 Matchfacts from 18 matches in 2012 season

Characters used in these matches: Ferrer, del Potro, Tipsarevic, Simon, Djokovic, Isner, Verdasco, Murray, Youzhny, Davydenko and Federer at Roland Garros

Avr 1st Serve Percentage: 68.61

Aces per Match: 7.17 (Total Aces 129)

Double Faults per Match: 0.89 (Total Double Faults 16)

Avr Fastest Serve: 205 kph or 127 mph (Total Fastest Serve 225 kmh or 140 mph as Isner)

Avr 1st Serve Speed: 180 kmh or 112 mph

Avr 2nd Serve Speed: 146 kmh or 91 mph

Winners per Match: 40.89

Errors per Match: 23.44

Winner to Error Ratio: 1.72

Winner + Aces to Error + Double Fault Ratio: 1.98

Net Approaches Won: 43% (Total Net Approaches 142; I promise to do better in the future, C4iLL)

Break Points per Match: 8.39

Break Points Converted per Match: 2.72 or 32.4% ( :| )

Break Points Faced per Match: 5.33

Break Points Saved per Match: 3.33 or 62.5%

Short Rallies Won: 54.11%

Medium Rallies Won: 57.67%

Long Rallies Won: 59.83%

Points won on 1st Serve: 74.11%

Points won on 2nd Serve: 56.94%

Return Points Won: 40.5%

Break in Game with Break Point: 2.72 out of 4.44 or 61.3% (better than the Break Point Conversion)

There were some matches for which I did not have the screens on my PC and did not bother looking for them on the forum and did not have any interest in looking at the .dmo file, which I should still have. But the screens of Roland Garros I still had, so I took the two matches into account.

Break Points Saved, Break Points Converted and Break in Game with Break Point is where Fox has the edge, when comparing our stats, in each one with around 10%, which is quite huge. My Winner to Error Ratio is better and longer rallies suit me, my net game has been below average so far, but I have worked on it. ;)

VMoe did you accumulate those statistics by adding all the total numbers or calculated the average mean of the match results?

I did both. Where I found the average mean of the respective stat more important, I used it, and total number in the other case. So I basically put all information in an OpenOffice Calc sheet and looked at what I found interesting.

I took a look at my "Deciding Set Record", which is kind of embarassing.

Eight of my matches went the distance, i.e. fifth set or third set. I've lost all these sets, 0 out of 8 deciding sets won.

Here the same for the Top 10.

kyuuji: 2 out of 5

Fox: 6 out of 7

Elias: 10 out of 16

Ugadalou: 7 out of 11

Otlichno: 3 out of 4

eliomelma: 2 out of 5

VMoe: 0 out of 8

C4iLL: 8 out of 12

Robbin: 5 out of 8

polca: 3 out of 5
