Nice you came here ;)
Anyway about the controls, if it's too simple, you should prove it and destroy everybody ! It would be a nice challenge ! :D

An idea was to put the "Elite control" on for some tournaments, and "off" for some others. Don't know where this idea is ?

Personally I've no opinion : in a way it could make the tour less accesssible for beginners, but in an other hand, it could be a nice challenge for everybody ;)

What is the difference?

Welcome The Potro :)

i always thought Elite Controls are better than Sim.

The point is the ITST Tennis Elbow tour is young and started mostly with beginners with the game, so to let the Tour grow we didn't wanted to put off the newcomers.

It's already been told that when the overall skill level will grow among the tour (and it is already), along with the playerbase, we may switch to Elite. And i still wish we will. Though as C4ill said, we may also decide to switch only major tournaments in Elite, or all tournament but still play challengers in sim controls for example.

But i guess we may have better time to wait for the Tour reaching a larger number of players for this, like 40-50 should be nice, as this would allow to open more tournaments and challengers then.

@Dimitrov : Elite controls is more demanding positionning wise, that means you need a good placement, there is less tolerance to approximative positionning (along with your consistency stat as well though) and this leads usually to more unforced errors.

Still The Potro you should try to join us, at least for some friendly matches using our stat scheme & setup, cause i'm sure you will still enjoy the realist feeling of the matches as it is now. (join us in the chat you'll often find people around to play).

Personnaly i wouldn't mind switching to Elite Controls right now , but that's not my own decision.

By the way, i voted Elite, in the end it's the best choice for sure, simulation wise. And as soon as you are moving well, you don't feel a big difference to be honest.

I'm short on time, so I'll give a short response:

1. I voted for Elite controls, because it makes the gameplay better, you'll see more varied rallies and more errors when players are not positioned well.

2. Elias and I once tried Elite controls and after some games it did not feel too different. Long rallies are possible, but you have to move and position well all the time.

3. Beginners may have a hard time with Elite controls, so we might have to go with Simulation controls for smaller tournaments and with Elite controls for bigger tournaments in the future.

Something i remember from past TE builds though (like one year ago) is that Volleying was much more difficult in Elite controls mode, more impacted than baseline play. I don't know if this has changed since several builds have been released in the meantime, and didn't tested this. But this is an important point in my opinion, i would'nt like to promote only baseline play because the netplay becomes too much risky.

Elias, after our test matches in elite controls, I didn´t feel more diificult to volley than simulation. TBH, I don´t think it would change a lot, as the great majority here just play from the baseline.

As a player that like to attack the net, playing elite control is still fun at all...

I think we need to build the tour first, before we go completely Elite.

TE is not a pick-up and play game, it also is different control-wise from ALL tennis games out there. We need to allow newcomers to adapt and progress. They need positive gameplay and reward for "some" shots.

I think we should start with Majors at Elite, then add Masters, then wait till tour grows a bit more and move to 500 tournaments. (with Elite controls)

I think 250, Challengers and Futures should remain as SIM with Elite optional, if both players agree.

Pulling a switch now to Elite may hurt our growth. Plus, if both opponents agree, hell, you can even play arcade!
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

As a beginner myself I agree with leaving as sim. djarvik makes all valid points. The game isn't pick up and play.

It's a lot more difficult than ts4 to get the hang of. changing to elite might make people give up before they've even properly begun if they feel they can't compete.

I just wanted to state my opinion about volley with SIM and elite controls, as really don´t see much difference.

I prefer to play elite indeed, but I know is too soon to make a change like that. But I agree with the idea of GS and Majors with elite controls an the others with SIM. It could work...

In my opinion, the volley with elite doesn't change, I agree with Ace ;)
