May 30th 2013: Update to ITST Mod 1.14
WarningIt's always better doing fresh TE installs with these versions, especially when there is new anims and menu items. If you're using a previous install you may then keep tennis.ini and ITST.ini files wich contains references about how many anims/sounds are available, or max interface items displayable, so this may lead to some bugs and in the worst case Desyncs.
Better to always do a fresh install, and re-creating an ITST profile. Report manually your key bindings (you can copy and paste them from your old ITST.ini to the new one, you can find it in the [Keys1] or [Joy1] section in ITST.ini).

1. Roster Stat's Changes from ITST Mod 1.13 to ITST Mod 1.14In ITST Mod 1.13 was predominantly played on clay and a few hardcourt tournaments and especially the slowest clay surface (Monte-Carlo) made obvious that the changes made from 1.12 to 1.13 were not enough to balance attack and defence -- rallies were way too long on high level, resulting in low Stamina after a couple of long games and it stayed that way until the end of the match. On hardcourts it still felt ok, but better to take a fundamental approach on this issue.
The passages in italic mention the changes, whereas one can show the explanation for the changes by showing the spoiler (for those interested).1.1 Speed vs. PowerA general reduction of Speed by 2% to 3% over the whole roster with some exceptions due to a new Stat explained further below.
A bit increased Power overall (with some exceptions not needing more Power), resulting in Power > Speed on most match-ups.
One exception: del Potro got his FH Power reduced to 89 (was 90 before).
The Speed of the highest Speed group at 83% Speed could change. If problems arise a fix will be released quickly as we did at US Open 2012.
- Spoiler: show
- In 1.13 we went into this direction, but with Power = Speed on most match-ups. In 1.12 it was Speed > Power. The relation Power = Speed is more or less balanced when aiming for 90% Speed, but aiming for 80% Speed it is more balanced with a Power a bit over Speed. This is what we did here.
1.2 Run Acceleration and TonicityIn TE, the Run Acceleration, i.e. how quickly does my player accelerate to its maximum speed, is determined by two Stats: Run Acceleration = 0.5 * Speed + 0.5 * Tonicity. Tonicity is a hidden Stat and automatically set on the same value of Speed, so until now we had Speed = Tonicity = Run Acceleration. Even with reduced Speed, we did not believe it was enough, since running from one side to the other AND doing something good with the ball was also possible with lower Speed like 75.
manutoo made it possible in TE 2013 v1.0a to use Tonicity as a Stat in Free Mode. Consequently we reduced Run Acceleration by around 16%, leading to Tonicity being around 50% for most characters.
This lower Tonicity leads to heavier movement and more demanding positioning. It will shorten the rallies for attackers with good anticipation.- Spoiler: show
- Explanation has been given right above this.

1.3 Adjustments of weak/strong wings regarding Consistency and PrecisionIn general: Weak wings have been given 3% more Consistency. Total Precision of characters has been increased, giving the extra Precision mainly to the strong wing.
Players with FH Power almost equal to BH Power: Nishikori, Davydenko, Almagro, Haas, Nalby, Wawrinka, Gasquet belong here. Those with lower power (Davydenko and Nishikori) have above 80% Consistency on both wings (but below 85%), whereas the others go by 85/78 (emphasizing FH) or 78/85 (emphasizing BH).
Special cases: Characters like Haas, Wawrinka and Gasquet now have some Precision bonus on FH and Precision gimp on BH. Djokovic now has more balanced Consistencies and Murray got rid of his Precision gimp on FH.
- Spoiler: show
- From 1.11 to 1.12 we normalized Precision Stats relative to Power, because it was unbalanced before. We likely went for too low Precision for our setup with Slow AutoPosition and No Previews. So, for 1.13 this did not change a lot, but for 1.14 we decided to give a bit more Precision, because it allows to play faster with the wing having a Precision bonus or turning around the BH to hit a FH.
Characters like Haas and Wawrinka run around the BH often in reality, so they got a Precision bonus on FH and a Precision gimp on BH now. Since Gasquet and Haas are twins in our roster, Gasquet got the same treatment (easier for balance and Gasquet still is different to use due to Spin).
Djokovic's BH was a bit too weak regarding Consistency, so a more balanced approach for him. Same goes for Murray, but in his case it is the FH.
1.4 Serves of some playersWawrinka, Verdasco and Harrison got reduced all Serve stats a bit.
Stepanek and Llodra got a better serve.
Raonic and Isnder got their Serve Power reduced to 95% (Consistency and Precision changed accordingly).
- Spoiler: show
- It is no secret that Wawrinka has an incredibly easy animation. We could change the animation, but decided to go with lowered Stats first. Verdasco has got some lowered Stats, but his real serve is difficult to render with the TE mechanics.
Stepanek and Llodra need a better serve for their gameplan.
Raonic and Isner serve might be more troubling with lower Tonicity (they troubled with 1.13), so better to reduce a bit Power here.
1.5 StaminaHas been increased globally by a good margin to reach Stamina > Power and Stamina > Speed.- Spoiler: show
- Better to have more of it than having boring low Stamina rallies.
1.6 Playing StylesNadal is now a Power Baseliner.- Spoiler: show
- It was difficult to balance Nadal as Defender and making him interesting, so we try him as Power Baseliner with a bit less attacking potential than Verdasco but at the same time better defensive abilities.
1.7 AnimationsGulbis animations by nguyengrandslam, also assigned to Gulbis of course.
Federer serve animation assigned to Dimitrov.
Lucian's Nadal serve animation v2 has been assigned to Nadal (before it was Lucian's Nadal Serve v1).
2. CourtsHere a quick review of what has been done.
2.1 GeneralA couple of updated 2D courts have been added respectively replaced:

2.2 Clay CourtsWith 1.13 we added some inertia to clay and had one slow regular clay (Monte-Carlo, Roland Garros) and Madrid/Rome were a bit faster. We decided to speed up clay a bit for 1.14.
In 1.14 it is as follows for regular clay (used at Roland Garros):
0.565 Friction (lower value = more friction = slower)
0.86 Elasticity (bounce)
0.53 HiDeceleration (slipperiness)
For Madrid/Rome, our faster clay, it is as follows in 1.14:
0.57 Friction (lower value = more friction = slower)
0.85 Elasticity (bounce)
0.53 HiDeceleration (slipperiness)
3. Cosmetic ChangesAnother goal of the ITST Mod is to always improve the experience.
Proper menu strings for Recording Menu (added in TE 2013 v1.0a for easy management of .dmo files) and Average Rally Length Stat have been added.

Selection of English and French umpire in the Sounds Menu (respectively Mohamed Lahyani and Pascal Maria samples from El Croato ).
Selection of Soundpack respectively Shot Sounds in the Sounds Menu.
Finally: Thanks to Richie and Vramvrim for some valuable testing and to El Croato for the nice Sound Packages!
