Ugadalou (Monfils) vs G.Dimitrov (Federer) 7-6/7-5.

I think Dimitrov is one of the most talented guys of the tour and if he is a newcomer to the game has great potential.
He defends amazingly well and has a great feel of the ball hitting every type of shot with precision and variety.

About the match,1st set I had a few break points I couldn't convert and I won the tie-breaker with 2 dramatic mini-breaks.In the next set I managed to break him early but he responded right back.In the end the match was very close,Dimitrov kept hitting great shots and angles but I guess I was more consistent and got the win.
I'd really like to see how this player evolves in the future.

Lost quarter final against robbin 6-7 4-6. What i can say? Congrats Robbin. As in my last matches i can lost a set without give my opponent one break point, in the first i give him no break points and i was in some games on 15-30 and have 3 break points and some set points in tie break that Robbin played incredible good. In the second i had soon 2 break points and in my serve games i won easy but on 5-4 for him i was on 40-0 , then i lost the game and the match with one break point for my opponent in the whole match. i need some practice because in this weeks i was very busy.
Good luck in next round Robbin

First time I record a demo, and it was a good idea. I play amazingly well on the baseline sometimes with Llodra disgusting his berdych despite the stats (on 2nd set and 3set) and I was huge on services (25 aces I think).
It was maybe one of my top3 matches in terms of level, and my top1 on baseline.

So If you want to watch that, I really advice you to skip the first set where I didn't play at the best I can, and where he just broke me and that was over.

The second set is really interesting with a really high level, me playing at max of capabilities, Robbin playing at a very high level I think, the tie-break there are amazing points, and the third set too.

Totally forgot to post something about this match.
Was really nice to play you and we had some wonderful points as anyone can see in the replay.
I thought two times that I had won the match (minibreak advantage to 5-4 in the tiebreak, and my break at the start of the third set) but C4ill displayed amazing mental en TE skill to come back twice in the match.
Fortunately in the end I could finish it of :)

Just finished my Quarter Final match versus Elio.
This time we had a good connection and I enjoyed the match very very much.
I couldn't do much on his serving, this was the best service I ever had against me Elio!
He had some chances on my serve but couldn't turn them over.
The first tiebreak was amazing and intense, with me saving two set points and Elio saving three set points before I finished it at 11-9.
In the second set Elio kept on serving great and I had no chance at all at his serve. He again had some break points at 3-3 I guess but I could save them.
At 5-4 Elio got to 40-0 but I somehow magically won six points in a row to win :)
Till next time Elio, was a really good match :)

Elias (Simon) vs. Vmoe (tipsarevic) 6-3 4-6 6-1

Well, nothing much to be commented about this match. As we run together several match up tests, we already knew before this match that it would be a no match for Simon. Tipsy has average stats and his stamina is too low considering he doesnt really have the weapons to end the rallies quickly enough to save some. And Simon as a counter doesnt deplete his stamina quickly. This match up is a perfect example of imbalance. It could have ended in two sets but i played it relaxed like a friendly match, doing some S&V in the second set to keep it fun, and Vmoe played good enough to win the second :)

Sorry for this loss Vmoe, i guess you may have better luck with Del Potro @ Cincinnati ;)

I definitely should have given myself a walkover when Elias said he could not play on Saturday, but I extended the deadline because I like breadsticks. :P At least I avoided a bagel, I even won a set against Elias in exhibition hangover mode. 8)

Funny: Here at Citi Open, same quarter with Elias. At Rogers Cup, too, in Cincinnati we could also meet in the QF. I love my draws. :x

Elias (Simon) vs. Robbin92 (Berdych) 6-4 6-7 6-3

A very good match from Robbin wich in some way confirms his recent good results and tight score vs Fox, and also remembered me about this first exhibition match we played the first time we met, though i didnt felt as much in danger today despite the tight score.

At start i got two breaks to lead 4-0, and i thought it would be a fast and easy match, but then Robbin waked up and started to play a better tennis. You can't go wrong with your positionning controlling an heavy character but when you're doing it right, in good hands they can be deadly, and it was needed to pass thru Simon and his pretty amazing court presence.

I can't detail more the match cause i played 3 matches yesterday and in between this and working on 1.08 i have some memory flaws (though you can find the replay in media section). I just can say Robbin deserved this second set, but for some reason, i didn't felt really in danger, though i had a little doubt after losing this second set, and i got to play really serious and focused in the last set because i didn't wanted to see another Tie-break in this match :)

About Robbin game i think he would benefit to come more often to the net especially playing chars like Murray or Berdych, that would probably help to put more pressure and have more chances to close such matches against good defenders :)

About Simon i have to say i don't like this char much, he's a special beast due to the counter style playstyle wich has so much advantages that it's pretty difficult to balance him, i think despite the considerable power changes we made, we're still not there yet, and besides this, i'm not fan of this playstation tennis style of play, which visually gives some arcade feeling to the game, even Davydenko, which is in my opinion the "playstation tennis" master with his typical flat shots game, doesn't render that way as much in the game, due to the fact he's a power baseliner and still can't hit so early. I'm still wondering if we should'nt make Simon a good defender instead to keep it simple, for balance/gameplay purposes. For now i think i increased too much his counter stat in 1.07 (95), cause i still could hit consistenly 81-84mph shots (wich is very fast considering his low power) without losing much stamina (counters accelerations stamina cost is equal to a standard shot).

In the opposite i think Berdych is a lovely char pretty well designed and pleasant to watch :)

Good match Rob & happy to see the skill level growing among the Tour, we can expect some exciting competition ahead :!:

I never felt that I could actually win it haha. Didn't served good enough.
However my baseline game was almost the best I can do at this moment and you were just like Nadal, getting everything back. Really frustrated me sometimes that I just couldn't hit that winner which forced me to some mistakes.
After the second set I thought full focus now and try to force an early break but u just stepped up a level and you were the one threaten my service in the beginning of the third set. U broke me at 3-2 I believe and after that you just played amazing on your service.
Good luck in the final Elias!

Elias (Simon) vs. Fox (Federer) 7-5 7-6(4)

Image

Lost yesterday my final against Elias. Well felt very disappointed cause i didnt really know what i could do more in order to beat Elias, i really felt i was that time at an upper level.

I would not have bet on my win against Elias at the Olympics especially after 2 wins in a row widely by Elias. But as i said i was ready to fight. But in that match i was not only ready to fight but i was ready to win.

80% first serve, big rallies on both side. I think i could not give better engagement en serve and better defense during points, i was pretty happy with my offensive tactic but indeed the score isn't on my favour.

I think i should watch the match in order to point my weakness, my mistake in this match, but really didn't understand.

I could not say the same thing in our previous matchs as i accepted the dominance of Elias, but this time kind bitter cause i always thought match was on my hand especially i managed to get early break which i wasn't able to keep them.

Anyhow Elias hits against, and i could only congratulate him for that, big improvement since few weeks, very impressive, he is a true top player. I still need to improve hoping that i could increase again my level.
Seeking for my rematch, i won't stay on that loose ;)

Thanks for your kind & humble comments Fox. I was so lazy to post a comment yesterday 'coz of the heat over here and my mind was much busy with roster testing & balance.

I was looking forward to see the results for both Simon-Federer match-ups, ours and the second one you played vs. Vmoe, because after my loss against Vmoe/Simon i started to have some doubts about our counter again.

In some way those matches are confirming my thoughts. We can tell those matches were close, thus balanced, but i think Simon is still not, balanced, he can no match in good hands any character wich doesnt have one great shot (like federer, berdych) to outpace him, because he's fast and the counter stamina management is a bit ridiculous (almost doesn't exists compared to other chars, pretty simple). He has still great shots with a high counter stat, despite a low power (62 on wings..), and can just hit those continually, even outlasting the thougher defenders like ferrer.

What does'nt work is a combination of things, mostly the counter style trying to building a char like Simon. The counter style has some critical advantages wich leads me to think it would only be suited for a slow character in TE. Because as soon as the counter is able to sustain long rallies, then he's outlasting a though defender, even having a lower stamina stat (or you have really to make him 30% lower iin stamina). Only a very aggressive char wich allows to hit thru the counter can compete. Also Simon anims are an issue, he's using some default anims with a very short preparation and it's also what makes for this crazy unrealistic rythm (not much enjoyable to play from both sides, too much arcadish feelings).

I tested a bit Simon with current stats, with anims 12/9 for FH/BH, slower preparations, and this brings a more realistic rythm to the rallies. Though the stamina issue remains.

So i think as we discussed it with Vmoe, we'll make Simon a good defender with a high counter stat, to keep it simple, cause for now it's too much of a nightmare to play against, and to balance properly.

Still about our match it really needed to play at 100% to beat you. And i agreee that you played exteremely well with Federer during this match, you couldn't do better i think, i was down two times for a break and could catch-up and win this, i doubt i would have been able to sustain your current level using Djokovic, 'cause you played i think a higher level overall than in the Olympics Final, and this forehand is clearly more dangerous now.

So i guess it's a "sorry for your loss" wich feels a bit like a steal, but well, that's the drawbacks of having a young Tour & roster, and balance surprises, we'll probably have some more of those in the future on our way to balance it better.
