I second echo the above.

I will extend the deadline by two day, but after that decisions will have to be made and Reserve Players may get a chance to play.

Kyuuji vs C4iLL = 7-5, 6-7, 6-1.

First set : a very though battle ! I was often near breaking with 30-a situation, and even had one break point opportunity, but as in our previous match, he saved these situations by playing a great tennis.
He's really hard to break !

He had one break point opportunity at 5-5, and he converted it, that was clinical. Afterwards, I really felt I could break him back, I saved 2 set points at 40-15 for him. But once again, he didn't fail, and won the set.

Second set : after these 2 set points saved I was at the top of my game, putting a lot of balls on line. But he was also at his top level as well. A huge fight began with incredible points, reflex volleys and so on. I think it's a crazy set to watch for spectators :c

He was totally unbreakable throughout the set despite the fact I tried everything and took max risk. We then went to tie-break. Where I finally managed to destroy the Kyuuji Wall to win the tie-break 7-2.

Third set : at that moment, regarding the way the tie-break ended, I thought the third will be mine. And the beginning of the set went in that direction : I dominated his first service to get one or two break points opportunuties.
But I don't remember how, he saved it/them. And he finally won his service...

Just after, with several errors on volleys due to weird shots from Kyuuji, I lost my service to be led 2-0... and 3-0 after.
I was completely down mentally, because he's too hard to break. I tried one game to come back : another 30-a, but impossible to get a break point opportunity.

After that, I was out of the match to finish the set with 5 winners / 12-13 faults + him 14/15 winners, 7 faults.

Congratulations to him, he was great ! ;)

I beat Elio 6-0 6-1.

I didn't play particularly well, but I allowed Elio to self destruct. He was making quite a few errors, and wasn't hitting the ball cleanly at all, so I took advantage and mixed my game up with normal and acceleration short angles, top spin, running to the net, anything to keep his rhythm off. At 4-1 in the second he looked to be serving better, I knew it was an important game if I wanted to win the match quickly and I held my ground and kept fighting until finally he gave me the errors I needed. I served somewhat well though, and didn't give him any chances on my service games, my movement and footwork were a bit off though.

All in all, I feel I could have played better, but I played well enough to win and that's the important part.

Big clash in red group: VMoe86 (Nadal) defeats kyuuji (Nadal) 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.

Well, the scoreline is strange, but it was at times a great match, although I think both of us could have played better. Finally I got my first win over kyuuji, who defeated me five times in a row, but since our last match I made quite some improvements, so that we were on a level playing field today. Obviously happy, but there is still some work to do if I want to qualify for the SF: It is possible that kyuuji, C4iLL and myself all have 2-1 wins and same amount of sets won and loss, with tied head-to-head (C4iLL defeats me, kyuuji defeats C4iLL in three sets, I defeat kyuuji; it all depends on how Uga plays against these two, too). Then we have to count games.

Congrats to him for a great performance in second set and beginning of the third set, that level was worthy winning this match! I hope we meet again, so that we can play full three sets on that level. :p

First set, he tanked due to not being accustomed to the delay (it was at 150ms; he hosted and I asked him to set it at 117ms :p). For me 117ms, 133ms, 150ms and 167ms do not make a significant difference, I can jump into the match and play my game. Only from 184ms and higher delay I have to make changes, which I do not like to make. So, I took this present.

Second set, he got break point right in the first game (I was serving first), but I saved it. He was now playing seriously, hitting the ball well. Moreover, he was more aggressive than me. It's been ages since this happened the last time, but as Nadal this means that he was also going to make a significant amount of errors. He held for 1-1 and then he got another chance to break: 15-40 on my serve. I got to 40-40, but I managed to screw up the next point and was rattled by it, lost the game. I got immediately the chance to break back, but he served well on the break point and got an easy one-two punch, clutch serving there.

From then on I was holding serve without facing a break point and always got into his service games: Next game a break point (saved by an ace :x), next service game of kyuuji 30-30, he serves well again. At least, I wanted to make him serve for the set, so it was important to hold serve at 3-5 down, where I was up 40-15, it got to deuce, but I managed to hold. He serving at 5-4, I got to 30-30 and then I screw up a point I should have won, I was rattled again (just like when I was broken in this set) and lost the next point, set over. In this set we were separated by three points, so it was very close.

At least I was serving first in the third set, but after a couple of loose points I was down 15-40, on the edge of trailing the first time in the whole match. A very important game to hold, and I managed to save the break points, hold and never looked back. I continued to get into his service games and at 3-2, finally, I managed to break. I consolidated the break and then he lost it mentally in the last game, got triple match point due to easy errors from him, and then even double fault on the first match point.

The third set was mentally and tactically a good performance from me mentally, but it wasn't all in my hands. Sometimes, one has to win ugly, I guess. :p It feels strange to win a match where you hit less winners than your opponent, don't remember this has ever happened to me.

Next up is C4iLL, I'm expecting a tough one here. I win, I'm through, all other scenarious I rather do not want to think about at this moment.

Uga vs C4iLL = 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.

Uga played at a very high level and he deserved his victory ! Sorry for the people who thought I could have won the tournament :c

First set : I saved 2 very unconfortable situations, 0-40 on my service. On my side, 0 break points opportunities despite some 30-a situations. His service was very hard to read.

Tie-break, he logically won it as I struggled more on my service than him since beginning.

Second set : I had one break point opportunity I missed, and he had 6 new break points, with 0-40 situations. I don't how, but I managed to save them all, I had a big mental today ^^

I was a survivor troughout this set and I didn't won it because I was better, just because I won some points in tie-breaks ^^

Third set : He saved one break point at beginning of the set. And just after, he broke me... Same scenario as against Kyuuji, he led 3-0. And after 4-0 with a new break...

I decided to give everything I had, and I finally managed to break him with a really high level. I came back to 4-2.
At that moment, a big fight began, with exchanges of like 30 shots. I dominated a little, to get 2 break points opportunuties.

I really thought I could come back, but I made a wrong choice by taking too much risk (coming to the net after a 28 shot exchange, thinking I could finish the point... I should have wait more !).

That's life, he saved hid service 5-2, then 5-3, and he concluded the match.

Very high level Uga, beware Kyuuji !

Stats of the match :
I won 66% of the long exchanges, hit 70 winners but 58 faults (14 double faults... new record), he was 37/31

And C4iLL is the first victim in the Red Group and thanks to Ugadalou I'm through as first in this group, no matter what happens in the next matches (at worst, I could be tied on wins to losses with either kyuuji or Uga, but then the head-to-head at WTF comes into play and gives me the edge). So, congrats to Uga and consolation for C4iLL -- this is truly a group of death.

I think both C4iLL and myself have enough motivation for our match (obviously he wants to finish his season on a high and 200 ranking points could be useful for him or for me :p). Without the pressure of who is going through to the SF, this could be a high quality match!

kyuuji vs. Uga is going to be very interesting, different styles (kyuuji more attacking, Uga a bit more defensive minded). I think Uga has a chance and he will give everything he has.

Where are the match reports for the Blue Group? Fox vs. Elias and Fox vs. Otlichno? .dmo files?

Well sorry didn't really tought about posting all here, its been a long time ^^
I'll try to post this week end screenshots and dmo files.
For the moment i'll try to sum up my first impression in this final tournament.

First of all they are very interessting groups with a red group where most of them know each others very well regarding the previous competition.

VMoe great performance to end the year, Kyuuji still standing with 3 Grand Slam Final but looks like he is actually trying to find a new path to come out. C4iLL a player who improve a lot on the tour with is unique style making him his own name on the tour and of course the underated Ugadalou who made a great run in Flusing Meadows.

Concerning my group, everyone disapeared a bit from the competition. Indeed i think i'm the only one from those who still stick a bit with few tournaments including the last master. I think it could be interessting has nobody knows the actual level and Elias and Otlichno made great performance this year so pretty interssting for my opinon.

Anyhow i expect some suprise especially when i see the actual vote from ITST Community giving C4iLL good chance whereas he just lost his opportunity. I think no one expected Ugadalou to out the great C4iLL. Returning to my matchs summuaries here are the details:

Fox def. Eliomelma 7-5 6-3

Well, not much to say. We both werent at our best. I had the break opportunity whereas he didn't get a single, more net approach more aces from my side. Those details made the difference.

Fox def. Elias 6-7, 7-6, 6-3

Was expecting a tough battle. I know Elias didn't compete for a while but still i always had hard time with him.

Lost barely the first set 7-6. I was leading the first set making the early break, i could not keep the pressure and he came back to the score bringing me to the tie break. He got me short with the help of the net and simply confirm his serve.

Pretty tied set where i couldn't managed to get the lead for long. More offensive i got the tie break and bring Elias to a third and final set.

Just like up to know we both where offensive, we just try to get the lead on each others. Defense wasn't really the tactic in place on both side. I trying to focus on my return and force on his backhand. I was able to approach the break on a lucky shot returning a short and powerless smash with a volley. I got just after a break point and converted. I simply stick to my serve just like we both did and got the win.

Wanted again to apologize for that lucky shot cause Elias really seemed frustrated with that. I only expected a short place shot so i anticipate foward and just got it lucky had the smash went straight to me. But for my personnal defense Elias got aswell lucky shot giving him the lead in the tie break in the first set. And i wasn't really expecting that shot going straight to me. Anyhow i apologize again, and i think people could make their opinion when i'll post the dmo files.

Fox def. Otlichno 6-3 5-7 6-2

Well honestly i wasn't expecting that win. My first two matchs weren't that so great. And lot of people have cleared that my level isn't the same that what i have produce in US Open. Otlichno is a great player pretty clever and keeping the pressure on his second serve with an high average speed. Indeed his serve wasn't that efficient today with pretty lot of double fault. I think Otlichno put pressure on himself missing some good shots. In the other hand i was pretty happy with that performance i shot out some good serve well placed and i stick to my baseline and trying some offensive net approch. My reading of the game was pretty good, haven't got this feeling for long time.

I made the break at the early first set and kept my first serve to close up the set.

Otlichno led 3-0 in the second set getting an early break where i was able to catch up immediatly to 3-3. Indeed, i didn't have enough stamina to keep the ball into the court where exchanges were pretty long at the end of the second set. Much stronger in rallies, he made the break and conclude on his serve getting the second set.

Having back my stamina, i immediatly put the pressure, and seek for place serve and aces. I managed to get a second break at the end of the set and i kept my engagement to win the match.

67% first serve, 22 aces, just like in Wimbledon against him, my serve saved me. The key was to really end up points quickly as he was much stronger in long rallies.

It was an intense match as expected against you C4iLL and I'm very happy I managed to survive it!Against him you always have to be on the edge because if you give an easy ball he gets the chance to approach and then...the point (as the stats indicate) is 65% his!

Even though I had so many break chances in the first 2 sets with three 0-40 occasions and some other opportunities, C4iLL always found a way to save them with gutsy net play.I felt comfortable in the baseline exchanges at the first stages of the match but as it went on he became more and more solid and aggressive so I had a tough time on most my service games.
Since I had my chances during the sets, I thought going to the russian roulette of the tie-break was in C4iLL's favor.I got the first one and in the 2nd set I failed again to convert my bp and got punished for it.He was determined and drew level.

Fortunately for me in the decider that wasn't the case, broke twice for a *4-0 lead.I thought at that point his mental tank would be empty after being down 2 breaks but instead, he somehow found the strength and played maybe at his best.I'm slightly angry at myself because instead of breezing through 5-0, C4iLL managed to get back and get the difference at one break. He wouldn't surrender and give it away without a fight. And a fight it was.
Many break points to get back on serve on *4-2 , we played some great rallies both of us out of stamina, wearing each other out with slices and b1 shots.
The climax of it all was that 28 shot rally with no stamina in the tank for either of us,I was defending trying to force an error or disrupt his rhythm and eventually he approached (I don't agree it was a bad decision-for me it was a good percentage play from your side), he covered the net leaving me no target, making me go for the line or nothing.I made it, held it together and closed it up.

C4iLL I'm sure that in the next season you'll keep the form running, you've had a great run these last months! (not long ago you had to fight for a place in this tournament and in the end you entered it as one of the favorites!) :)
Of course you have one more match to play against VMoe and I'm sure you'll give 100% like the fighter you are.
It was a very enjoyable game for me, I actually had missed playing close, high intensity matches like this, as I've suffered some bad losses lately. These losses only motivated me though to try and become better.
Now a match against the no1, kyuuji, with a ticket for the semi-finals on the line!I'll make sure I'll enjoy it as much as possible, again no pressure on me, coming as a heavy underdog in this one.

Sorry I've completely forgotten to record my matches.

My match against TWM Fox was a great one. I started off pretty slow on my serve and he took advantage, some great serving on his part to secure the first set.

Second set, I started off really strongly, I was reading his serve well and made sure to give him no cheap points. It only lasted three games though, and I was back to old bad habits. I was REALLY nervous going into the match, and my fingers literally got tight some of the times, I couldn't move as well as I hoped I could. But I stuck with Fox and fought, eventually one bad game on his part, and I took the set.

In the third set, he was just outplaying me. I couldn't do anything about it. His serve and return game were clicking and I couldn't do anything about it. Obviously, if I concentrated better I could have let him get tight. But it was not to be.

Well played Fox.

A weird match without highlights: VMoe86 (Nadal) defeats C4iLL (Llodra) 6-4, 6-4

Well, this was truly a weird match. Apparently both C4iLL and myself lacked some motivation and 100% focus for this match, especially in the beginning.

In the first set I immediately lost my serve (I think I missed four first serves in a row and he attacked like no one else my second serve), had a chance to get back the break, but he was up 2-0. Still, I tried to win this set and won the next three games. I had chances to go up 4-2, but he saved those break points. We both held until 5-4, when he finally cracked.

Second set I started where I left off: Hold easily, get into C4iLL's service game. This stopped after 1-1, though, when he started playing better and I simply toughed out my service. I was literally afraid of every second serve I hit. He was all over it. At 2-2 or 3-3 he had double break point, so it was time for clutch tennis. I got back to deuce and there he hit a shot, that was going out, so I did not move anymore, but the ball was coming directly at my player -- safe shot to the other side, easy ball for C4iLL to blast a winner off. I saved this break point as well and from then on I was looking to somehow win this second set. After relatively easy holds until 5-4, he cracked once again when he had to serve to stay in this set (and thus match). A volley error on match point was the perfect finish to a bummer of a match.

So, C4iLL ends his season having lost four matches in a row. He can be satisfied with his level, though, at least in this match here he was putting me on defence in baseline rallies (i.e. it would have been better if I stayed back a bit more, but I hugged the baseline, as I always do) and won some rallies. I think he could do really well with a baseliner, if he were interested in switching. :p We'll see what he has up his sleeve for 2013, but I expect him to appear regularly in the late stages of tournaments and eventually he will win one.

My journey at WTF continues, next up is Otlichno. I have played once against him, long time ago, Roland Garros SF -- I lost in a five-setter. :p He seems to be back at a great level, so I better play better than I did so far (I believe I have room for improvement!), I'm not going to be lazy!

Stats

Not visible on the screenshots is total distance run: C4iLL with 2820.4 yards (2.58 km) and VMoe86 with 1997.1 yards (1.83 km)

Yeah 4 defeats in a row what a bad run ^^

I haven't a lot of explanation, every match has its own story... I played really well in the last three, but Kyuuji was more realistic than me, Ugadalou played an unbelievable match and was a wall, and the last match vs Vmoe I didn't feel the reward so I didn't fight as I usually do, especially on important points.

I could have won these 3 matches, so I'm really not disappointed. That's life, sometimes, things don't turn on your side ;)

I will now practice and try things for the Australia Open !

And my season ends here.

kyuuji def. Ugadalou 6-3/5-7/6-0

I knew it'd take something very special to beat the world no1,but there were times I thought I had a chance. The rest of the match though, kyuuji was dominating the exchanges.
I figured that him using Nadal he'd play a more controlled baseline game and that along with my playstyle resulted in gruelling marathon rallies with our stamina tanks suffering point by point.I think in the first game alone we played three 20+ ball rallies! He had the upper hand in them, the main difference being he was able to hit trough me with his forehand side which gave him 40 of his total 60 winners, using great placement and shot selection. He turned around to fh on his bh side greatly (even though we know how hard this is on this version) giving me a hard time defending from side to side.My best weapon was my trusty first serve which worked well giving me free points.

In the first set that was the story and when on one of my games I didn't find enough first serves,he got the better of me and broke.I only had 1 break opportunity which he saved. That was pretty much the concept of the second set until 3-3 when he broke me again.I was determined not to let go and played a great game at *4-3, got the break back.Keeping up my momentum at that point, kyuuji blinked and I broke him again for a 7-5 comeback.

That was when I woke up the beast. In the decider he switched to an extra gear and I simply couldn't keep up with him.I didn't play as good as I did in the end of the 2nd, but still I think in the final set he played as good as I've ever seen him play, doing whatever he pleased with the ball taking it early and painting the lines.

So, time for me to pack my suitcase and watch the semifinals and final from my TV, taking some days off.I'm happy I was able to be competitive at a tournament of this caliber and lose the semifinal spot for only a set.
Especially in a group like this, very accurately described as ''the group of death''.

Time for a rest, because the next season is expected to be like no other. With all these uprising talents and the TE stars coming from MG, hell is gonna break loose in Australia!

The first finalist is known: VMoe86 (Nadal) defeats Otlichno (Djokovic) 6-4, 6-4

That was a really tough match, which was due to Otlichno's great play and aggressive gameplan. He was taking everything early, following attacks at the net and volleyed well (he is a better volleyer than C4iLL ;)). When he had to, he also defended well. I was good on serve, which was important, because he was turning around the longer rallies in his favour, which sounds weird considering he took the balls earlier. Happy to be through to the final, where I'll give everything I have to clinch this title!

To summarize the match, the first set started off with the two of us exchanging breaks. Then I got two more breaks and held once for a 4-1 lead, where I was serving for a 5-1 lead in the first set. However, he was playing some really good stuff to get back one break. So, at 4-3 I managed to hold to love and he forced me to serve it out at 5-4, which I did without much problems. It was really important to get some short returns or get some aces by smart placement.

In the second set, the pattern from the last games of the first set continued. We were holding serve until 2-2, where I managed to get into his service game. It was a really long service game, the longest I have experienced in TE (couple of deuces and break points as well as game points). I remember one break point, on which he attacked the net, I tried to pass down the line (stupid me :p) and his volley clipped the net, instant winner. I still had one or two more chances. On one of those I had a really good chance, but made a bad choice (normal short strike, which he simply put away). After all, he managed to hold, but I held qickly for 3-3. The next two games were also rather quick and at 4-4 I was looking to get a break and the game started off well with a 0-30 situation. I was fully aware of how important the next points were for this set and so I stayed focused, got two break points. Eventually he made a fault on one of those (I honestly cannot remember), me serving for the match. He got me to a 30-30 there, but a good one-two punch and a second serve ace sealed the deal.

Good match Otlichno, see you next year and in the off-season!
