PBZ Zagreb Indoors

Postby djarvik » Fri, 01 Feb 2013 20:16

Guys, we need a few more sign-ups in this one. This is an Indoor tournament, with fast courts. If you like to play attacking tennis and prefer a more winner-friendly matches - this is a great opportunity.

Cerji is always using surprising players :)

EDIT : I just checked the draw. It's gonna be a very interesting tournament, no doubt about it. A lot of great players, with strong rivalries. I'm sure we'll all watch it carefully. :)

Unfortunately for all the participants, I have decided that it's time for me to win a title. You should all give up, it's useless to try, you will just loose your time ;)

El Croato (Stanislas Wawrinka) - Florian (Novak Đoković) 3/6 1/6

I thought the winner of the first match of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors would make a report about it, but it is apparently not the case, so I will do it in a very brief fashion as there is not much to say about that match. :D

Florian simpy plays in another world than I currently do. There is a huge gap in terms of level between us. My motivation was not enough for me to create an expoit, even though I have to say that I succeeded in keeping pace with him until 3-3 in the first set. In the beginning of the match, I was playing great and managed to cancel his break opportunities with some fantastic shots. I invite Forian to post the record of the match so that you will be able to see the first six games of the match which were intense in my opinion. Once he broke me, the rest of the match was a mere formality for him as I never made him feel unsure in the remaining games to be played.

I congratulate him on his win and wish him and the other competing players the best of luck in this tournament. ;-)

Robbin (Tsonga) def. Algo04 (Djokovic) 7-6(0) 6-2

Well it looks like I'm finding some fun again in the game with a more offensive caracter.
Tsonga's service was on fire with me losing only 8 point on service in the entire match. In the tiebreak all my 4 services where blistering aces.
I never served on this level with Tsonga before as all my first services touched the lines.
On his service I had some trouble returning, had a few break points in the first set but due to some good play of him it became a tiebreak.
After the tiebreak it felt like I broke him mentally and I started to return better leading to two comfortable breaks.
My goal for this tournament, the SF, is reached. Anything more would be a pleasure and I'm going to fight for it.

A report of Butcher-Florian would be interesting :)

My match vs Tdbchess : I've seen Tdb play far far better than he did today... The match last 18 minutes max as he did a lot of faults and me, aces + volley winners. Now I really want a revenge vs AlexJasmins (he could be my next opponent in SF) ! :)

I lost to butcher 3&2, he played solid especially on the net where getting on the ball early enough to display some good passes was nearly impossible, maybe because of the surface or because of the not very good quality of my returns. He served very good the whole match indeed, and he's got a good shot for the title in my opinion. I have to admit that i defended poorly, gotta find some of my movement back because he was wrong footing me way too easily there.

So GL to him and hopefully i'll have my revenge ^^
