Ok. thank you. Suggestion, include this in the mission statement of ITST then:

"Our mission is that you can pick your faves, at the expense of realism".

Then, at least it'd be full disclosure.

Way better than:

"We are so realistic, we TELL you who to use, even if you hate that player and love another, why? Cause we care more about Good looking Draws than you, the user of this site. Welcome BTW!"

Draws ARE your random factor here, they are the lottery, the coin-toss. Making someone use a player he doesn't like (will happen rather often if the user is an avid Fed fan) is a sure way to fail and drive people away from the tour.

Like I said, I had this idea a year ago, just as a fun way to play a tournament or two - outside of the competition.

Djarvik, sorry to beat a dead horse, but one thing is bothering me. Please listen objectively.

I say, again, that the realism of a game's FORM should be served first, the wants/desires of the user second.

Thing is, ITST does do this! E.g. When playing French Open, we insist on Rolland Garros court right? Why? Some players prefer cement. But for the sake of the game's FORM, we insist they make the sacrifice, right. And they do. Why? Because its a small sacrifice. Small price to pay for the sake of realism. But....when it comes to making sure the game's FORM is real when it comes to characters, ITST doesn't make demands. Why? Because the sacrifice is too much, the price too hight. Users won't pay it.

So, ITST does uphold my views. But only in a limited way. So don't knock my argument, its in harmony with the right principles. ITST supports it all the time. But, again, its has to make consessions for users, which I completely understand.

What you propose would set a less serious competition, less "professionnal" in a way. The ranking would become completely useless : imagine a top player, who always gets Harisson in every tournaments, he will be out of top 20. In the other hand, imagine an average guy, always having Fed, he will be top10.

But would he really deserve to be a top10 ? Absolutely no : no one will consider him as a top10, neither him. So what's the point to set up a ranking anymore ? I remind you that ITST is a virtual ATP tour, with at his heart, a ranking and a system of points :/

Oh so what now, anyone can pick whoever he wants? Are you high C4iLL I didn't know this was allowed at all. This is becoming like Agassi and Nadal in Top Spin 4. Top players are forced to choose those 2 because otherwise they can't play. So you end up with big, long-black circlejerk. Go figure

AO (Murray), Indian Wells (Almagro), Miami (Federer), Monte-Carlo (Haas), Madrid (Federer), Rome (Davydenko)

I see five players here, go figure. Funny to note that clay season has been dominated by characters with around 30% Spin, not by two players.

And if you can choose only pro that playing in real life this tournament? example for Halle who signup can choose only players who play this tournament, so federer, haas, monfils and others, while who signup to Queens can pick, delpo, Tsonga, Murray ecc... (for challengers and futures all players allowed). If one player join the tour and would play with his preferite pro, example federer, this week could signup only for Halle...

Just offer more ranking points for playing perceived shittier characters like Goffin and etc. Less ranking points if you win with Federer/Djokovic/etc or keep it the same.
