few questions !!

Postby zaid137 » Sat, 12 Jan 2013 01:21

hey guys , i have got some few questions , hoping to get the answers here

i played some online matches , and some guys using 1st serve on 1st and 2nd serves , so when they miss the 1st time they use 1st serve again , just to get aces and easy points . isnt that cheesy ?? in my opinion it is , and some rules should be put to fix this thing .

2nd , lob returns are not allowed ? they are considered cheesy too , so if some1 returned with a lob and the server lost the point , the next point should be given to the server , this is my opinions , so what do you think ,. i lost a tight match today because of that ,,,on one point in the breaker my opponent returned with a lob that passed over my player head and he took the point and won the breaker 9-7 .

hoping to see some replies and opinions :)

About strong serves at second, there is not rule for it for now, as it represents a risk of making doubles, using b1+b2 on a second serve, though b1 is less risky than b1+b2, and still pretty strong with heavy servers.. Personnaly i just wish that in a future TE release, using b1+b2 or b1 on second serve being more risky than on a first (just a situational gimp, like a 10% consistency gimp on the second serve may be interesting to limit a bit such practices, keeping the b2 serve safe).

About lob returns, it's not integrated in the rules yet, right. We'll probably do it. Though It's already been stated by Djarvik that lobs shouldn't be used against a first serve. Djarvik words are worth a rule around here though we still have to include it officially in the rules. Thoug it's also important to note that a lob return against a second serve shoudl'nt be forbidden (if the opponent rushes the net), lobbing against a slower second serve is not irrealistic. Also if the server uses a slow sliced serve as a first, same thing, a lob may be used against the volleyer. What is not realistic is hitting an effective lob right away against a strong serve in my opinion.

thanks Elias for replying , but it will be more realistic and more fun if players using the 2nd serve with b2 only , some guys who serve really well and choose ( Isner , Raonich , Tsonga ) , they have a big chance to hit the box if they miss the 1st time , i mean the advantage of hitting aces is way more than the disadvantage of hitting DF , and then they are almost impossible to be broken .

for the lob returns , as u said it can be limited for the net attack with slow serves , despite i havent seen that the 1st shot is a lob in real life tennis , anyways i dont want to link the game with the reality so much , but the way its made it is so realistic . which makes it different from other tennis games :)
