Playing several tournaments at the same time

Postby Clog » Sat, 05 Jan 2013 15:54

Hi guys,

Haven't found a topic about it...
I'll make it short, it's just that I don't understand why playing several tournaments at the same time is allowed. I mean just tell me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the aim of ITST was to "simulate" the ATP World Tour (maybe "simulate" isn't the right word, but you get me), and as we all know, players don't play in Qatar and in Sao Paolo at the same time IRL. So how could you justify the fact that we actually can do it ? Because the rules say that you can't play two tournaments which start on the same day, but if one starts the 1st of January, and another on the 2nd, you can do it. Why ?
Plus, it can create a weird effect on ranking. For example, if a player reaches two semifinals at the same time, he'll get more points than someone who played one final. This way, some players could have a better rank thanks to the time they spend on the game, not their victories.
Not to mention the fact that some players should only play "big tournaments" thanks to their high level, in order to let less strong players play at their own level with people they can have fun with. Cuz sometimes, some players here seem to forget that there is no money to win here, no sponsor, nothing ; just having fun.

So I think that the rule about it should be corrected. If you disagree or if you have a logical explanation to show me I'm wrong, let me know. I just wanna understand it, no violence here.

I remember someone (djarvik I think) said it was allowed because tour was growing, and we were more and more new players, needing trainings. So challengers weren't starting on monday but tuesday, so we're able to signup 250/500/1000/GS and challengers at the same time.

Cuz sometimes, some players here seem to forget that there is no money to win here, no sponsor, nothing ; just having fun.

But I agree with you, some people forgot why challengers and future tournaments are created. I was looking at the future challengers and i saw that AlexJasmins ("the rising star" from its words) signed up. It is really useless, except for his ego maybe.

The fact is that as you said, it's about "trainings", not "official" matches. When you lose 6-0 6-0 because a big player is able to play in a challenger while he's still playing in the 250, it doesn't teach you anything.

I just edited my post while you were answering. I totally agree with you on this point.

It's simple : the old veterans from the Managames tours should not be allowed to participate in these tournaments.
A rule like "people with more than 300 TE games should not be allowed to play future". Or people with ELO of more than 900 should not be allowed. If you state in game, your opponent has more than this ELO, or more than this amount of matchs played, take a screen and the guy gets a WO, end of story ^^ Hope that kind of rule could be integrated quickly ;)

I always said the presence of Spencercarlos and Michael D on these tournaments was completely abusive regarding their level and the purpose of the challenger / future tour.

Well if they did play in those tournaments, they can't anymore due to their ranking.

Yes and this also works for ''league 1'' tornaments, although in a different manner. I just checked, with the current ''16 days/1 tournament'' system it is possible for one man to be in 3 atp tournaments at the same time. Doha semis/Sydney R16/AO R1 for example.
Another thing is the fact that new points are useful only after 2 or 3 tournaments and not after each one like at real tour but thats another topic.
