Ball Preview

Postby Ugadalou » Sat, 21 Apr 2012 14:07

As you probably know, the tour is currently played with no previews.
I understand that this decision was made in order to enhance the realistic nature of the game, but I think what's most important is to find the golden ratio between simulation and fun.

With no previews, at least in the 2D courts, the ball trajectory is sometimes very hard to read-especially its height. This results in footwork and position mistakes which could be avoided by applying the service & rally cross preview.
Most importantly, it can be very tiring and frustrating focusing on the ball so much.

Personally,I enjoy the game much more when playing with the cross and then it is so much more about tactics and strategy rather than seeing where the ball is going to at least get it in-play.
The cross is so discreet anyway that it doesn't affect the realistic feeling of the game.

Let me know what you think and how you'd prefer to play!

Personnaly i didn't played @ managames tour because of such settings (and also char stats).
The feel is way too much arcadish imo with helpers. One big component/skill in tennis and a good tennis SIM is in my opinion the ability to read and anticipate your opponent game, and helpers removes a good part of it.
For my part, i won't play here either if such settings were adopted.

As for 2d / 3d, honestly even a low end computer can run this game in 3d mode flawlessly. Just reduce the resolution if needed, but mostly remove details (no public, umpires, just the court+players) and you'll be fine.

i think ITST tour should also use Elite controls insteed of sim, to really get the best TE can offer.

In ManaGames, you have to play with danger zone on,which in my opinion is terrible.Danger zone really does ruin the simulation feel.
But I did not suggest that.I talked about the service&rally preview which after all is implemented in games like TopSpin4 and no one ever complained about that.

Well, they didn't complained in TS4 because they didnt had the choice to remove it anyway (right ?) :)

i come from DMT with no preview and did learn to anticipate, i swear this is a great gameplay skill to improve and if you get used to play without i bet you will back up this opinion with time.

that's just my opinion anyway, i respect yours ;)

I'm against the preview as well, it kills the fun of the game and the realistic aspect.
