What's your Hardware Configuration?

Postby campa100anni » Tue, 22 Apr 2014 23:18

I had to format my pc today and I switched to Windows 7 (I was still using XP) but now my game (in 3d) is not very fluid anymore and that makes it pretty hard for me to play online matches where I have to be always quite fast. The game runs pretty fluid in 2d mode or in 3d with big big zoom but it becomes very shuttering as I try to enlarge the view and set the court a little bit smaller.I think the problem could be that my pc is not good enough to run Windows 7 and so it cant handle Tennis Elbow as it should.
My hardware is:

- AMD Athlon 64, Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21 Ghz
- 2 GB RAM
- Nvidia GEFORCE 6200 LE.

What is your hardware configuration and does your game run quite fluid in 3d mode (every camera angle and zoom)?

Thanks for the response C4ill (by the way, 57 post view and just one response, thanks everybody else for your help guys) but, though the problem seemed to be solved for a little while, the situation now is probably even worse than before  I desactivated Vsync from my graphic card panel and the game actually started to be way more fluid but, every 5 or 6 seconds, the screen gets frozen for half a second or so (I think because of the refresh rate, I'm not into these things) and that makes me lose my position or miss the ball barely everytime it happens. I'll try to make some other tests changing some other option in my graphic card panel and see if anything good will come up.

Disable also Vsync in in-game settings. Also another thing you could try is to disable Aero. This you will do as following: right click on desktop --> click "personalize" option (usually at the bottom) --> now just scroll down until you see " Windows 7 - Basic " option which is the one you want to select. And also feel free to play with settings in nvidia interface and set a few things on "performance" rather than " visual" option. Hopefully this helps you.

thanks pidzi and elias ;)

@pidzi: I didn't see any Vsynch Option in in-game mode (I thought about desactivating that in game so I carefully searched it but probably I didn't search very well, I'll try to have a look again :P). I'll try with this "Aero" thing as well and let you know.

@Elias: I'm playing in full screen mode. Yes that's true, windowed mode has always been more sluttering (but this is a common thing of almost every game I think).

About Vsync in-game, its in there but to see this option in "video" settings, you first have to go to "misc" and turn ON the "advanced options" option then head back to "video" section and to "advanced option" subsection which now appears there and there it is Vsync frames with a dozen of other options you can play with. But i think disabling Aero could increase your cpu performance and thus making your game more fluid.

The problem seems to be solved :D
I tried to do like pidzi suggested to so I desactivated the VSync in the In-Game menu but I couldn't see any improvement so I started to play a little bit with the other settings until I finally set "Anisotropic Level" (I have no idea whatit is by the way :D) from "3" to "Off" and "Textures" from "Auto" to "16". Now the game runs very fluid with every level of detail and crowd, from empty stadium to fully crowded. I tried to reset my Graphic Card options to default and the game still runs OK so, basically, In-game VSync, Anisotropic Level and Textures were the only values to modify, it was not a Graphic Card problem. Thank you very much for your help guys :D

Yep, anisotropic filtering uses some gpu power (at least some gpu's are not good at it so it's heavyer work for them), you can also disable/lower antialiasing if needed. setting shadows to "circle" instead of "all" can help as well, basic shadows uses less processing power.

As long as the game is running fluid I'm not changing anything else :D
