Question for ELIAS about 3d Camera

Postby campa100anni » Mon, 17 Feb 2014 17:03

My computer is quite old so I've always had to play using a 2d camera or otherwise all the game would have been very slow and lagging. In the last couple of days, anyway, I found out that if I set the details to very low and I play with no crowd the game is pretty fluid (even if very sad and lonely though :) ). The camera that I like the most in 2d mode is by far Brazil Open (ITST1.16) so I've tried to reproduce the same angle view using the 3d camera. I tried a lot of times but I couldn't reach that same exact prespective (I managed to have some similar prespective but never exactly the same). Sometimes when I switch from 2d to 3d, the camera angle I get straight away is exactly the same that I had in 2d* but this is something that happens non very ofter, a lot of times I have to play around with the 3 parameters (Zoom, Height and Aperture) to have something similar to it. Anyway what I want to ask is: is there a way to know the exact values of the parameters you (Elias) used for 2d courts, so that I can know how all of them three have to be set to obtain a certain camera angle?

*= This is something very weird as well. When sometimes I play around enough to have the exact prespective (or one very similar) if i swap the application (alt+tab) when I come back to the game the camera angle is changed even if the parameters haven't been touched. Instance:
I play with +23 Zoom, +25 Height, +12 Aperture and I have a view angle. Then i swap the application for a bit (alt+tab), and when I come back to the game even if the parameters are still the same (+23, +25, +12) the view angle has changed (the camera is closer, or too far, or the aperture has changed or things like that). Should I call Ghostbusters?

Hi. Uchiha Here.

I can answer your 2nd part of your question. In 3D when you swap application, 3D camera changes. It changes even with pure unmodded game. So ITST mod is not to blame.

Solution is: When you swapped application and come back, your camera changes. So go to camera menu, and
switch to other camera view and back.
Here is an example: I play with mild dynamic. I swap and camera is messed up. I go camera setting, switch to full dynamic and back mild dynamic. Viola you get your camera settings back.

Note: If you're playing set with someone, pause the game go to camera settings and then swap to some application.
So when you come back, you only have to switch your camera back and forth and that's it.

thank you uchiha.
I didn't know that it was a common problem so, therefore, it is not even a problem but just something proper to the game. I'll do as you suggested even if I don't usually swap applications during online game, I just said it to explain better what I meant

Yes Campa100anni, don't worry i noticed your post @MG forum :)

Like Uchiha said, the 3D cam messed up after alt-tabbing is a known issue even on vanilla TE, since a long time (i think i always had this, since i started some years ago).

About your first question, quest to translate a 2D court favorite cam, in 3D mode, i know what you feel, i've been there as well, even though i din't tried very hard, but for some reason, i could'nt reproduce it either. Not only manually, but more surprisingly, even copying the camera info/coordinates from the 2D court.ini, into the tennis.ini, or camera1.ini section, when loading it in 3D mode, it doesn't renders the same cam. No idea why, that is something i wanted to ask Manutoo about, but i finally forgot about it. Maybe he'll have an answer on this one.

Regarding his answer @MG, our cam menu may lack a slider. I don't remember missing an entry but i may have. I'll check about it when back home (i'm away for like one week until 24th). If i find something lacking i'll probably update the mod installer.

thank you Elias.
I've been trying to reproduce the same cam but, as you said, it's way harder than it seems (I even drew some X on my screen to trace the position of the 4 angles of the court [that is kinda of sick I know  ]) but it looks like some angle isn't meant to be reproduced in 3d. Anyway I've found a pretty similar angle and I'm trying to get used to it so I hope that I will be able to give up trying and start playing with this new prespective (even though I'll always choose 2d every time that I'll play on Brazil Open Court). :c

I'd like to re-open the discussion. I really like the camera you have when you use default camera and then swap to another app and come back. I think I've set up something similar, but it's not easy to see if the camera is the same, so (especially asking to elias) is there any way to have a look at the settings which give us the "default alt+tab" camera? In the game, there's no way to save that camera and the settings don't change when it happens.

You go in your ITST.ini file, you open it with wordpad and at the bottom you have the figures with the camera. I substitute always these by my custom camera after each patch personally

Yeah i knew about this, but, if the camera you have after alt+tab shows the exact settings of the camera you were using before, I think that the variables won't change in the ini file too.

After alt tab, you just reload the camera you saved (in 1 2 3 or 4)

But he wants to setup the camera as follows:

1. Choose default camera.

2. Go Alt + Tab.

3. Go back to TE.

He wants that particular camera to be saved, but the Alt + Tab does not change any values of the default camera. I don't know how to help inseedious here, only manutoo can.

This.
I must admit that it is really hard to explain it, especially when you're not a native english speaker ^^

i'd answer the same as VMoe. I think i tried this, alt-tabbing then back to TE, trying to save the cam. But it didn't saved different values for the cam. So i only can conclude it's a "bugged" cam and i don't know any way to reproduce it using specific values, though i understand why you're looking for it, as i found myself liking this camera view as well :)

If I'm not mistaken I think that the camera you have when you come back from ALT+TAB it's not even always the same camera. So I don't know which one could be the camera you wanna use as default.
