What is this Top Spin serve?

Hi. Sorry if this question has been asked before. I'm new to this game and joined yesterday. I've heard good things from few people over at Managames so I decided to give this mod a try. I played few matches and I think this game is better compared Virtua Tennis.
Not that ------------------------------------------- much, but more like ------. Could be worse but I guess I have no choice.
But there is this one thing that troubled me like a bully kid at school. It's apparently called top spin serve and seems to just bounce over my player's head. I didn't know what to do. I'm used to cheesy play as over there in managames people constantly lob and dropshot. I'm okay with that. But this was ridiculous thing. My favourite player is David Goffin and I was glad to find him in the character sheet. I couldn't believe my eyes! Entered my 1st match and was really pumped to play this game. I got aced a lot cause I'm new, I don't exactly know what I'm doing. At first I was like What The F, "am I like a child in this game"? Then I played more sets with new people. It just kept happening, I got aced like it was some sort of a joke. Lucky for me my internet connection lagged a lot because my brothers were streaming a Netflix from a Wi-fi so at the end of each set I had a replay of that match. I watched some of those sets just for boredom, then I saw that ball was bouncing up weirdly every time in the 2nd serve. It looked weird to me so "binged" my question. Turns out it was called top spin.

Help me guys. I don't know what to do and I can't stop crying because I'm too worried that I'll never win a set. I'm literally in bits.
