Controller Mapping

Postby djarvik » Mon, 23 Apr 2012 21:30

I am curious about the players who are using Console controllers to play TE2011. How do you map out your movement and strikes?

I don't play with a controller anymore, back to the keyboard, but I think the following choice is quite good on the PS3 controller (I played a couple of matches with it and like how comfortable it was moving around, but never invested time mastering it to perfection):

Left Stick -- Movement

X Button -- b1+b2

Circle Button -- b1

Square Button -- b2

R1 Button -- Alternate Strike Up/Down

L1 Button -- Alternate Strike Down/Up

EDIT: Obviously influenced by Top Spin 4. ;)

I play with a ps3 controller, and i set the buttons as in top spin games more or less:

Dpad: movement
X button: b1 (normal, top spin)
SQUARE button: b2 (slice, drop shot, lob)
CIRCLE button: b1+b2 (acceleration, aggressive lob)
TRIANGLE button: short acceleration

Am I the only crazy one playing wiht mouse?

I think I´ll start to use my PS3 controller. With 2 days playing, I´m already starting to have some tendinitis, almost a real player...

I never enjoyed playing games with the keyboard. And I found very easy to play with a mouse. But after some time playing it becomes a little unconfortable. I´ll start to test the PS3 controller today.

I use PS3 controler, just started to play TE again after a few months. Before that I played it a little bit so I know the basics of the game. For controls I use this.

X Down: Short acc
X Any: Normal acc
O Up: Topspin
O Central: Normal shot
O Down: Short shot
Square any: Slice
Triangle any: Agressive lob
L2 any: Defensive lob
R2 any: Drop shot
Start: Menu

How are your controls Djarvik? Havn't seen you on the forum for a while?

I had it very similar to what you have. I will have to check and confirm.

Don't have time to play at all the last month or so...lots of work and family stuff.

If the situation changes and should I have time for a hobby, you can bet on it - I will play :D
