Sh0Case,
here a more up-to-date video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRRIClnM4_4

djarvik,
it might work, but it's not recommended, coz depending of some strike styles, you will be more or less advantaged...

Mudhoney,
if I recall well, the game can't work with Wine coz the support for D3DX skin meshes hasn't been implemented. But just in case, you can try to activate the "Advanced Options" in the "Misc Options" menu, then go to the Advanced page of the "Video" menu and set the 3d Engine to DX7 instead of DX8, maybe it could help the game to run under Wine.

I never played online but at least I could check the lobby and all, nevertheless you can always install two instances of the game ... the game without the addon is just 300 megas or such

If both players have the same version and Sam's patch, is online play possible?

i install the game in two different folders (te 2011 online and te 2011patch), in one i play online and in the other i play with the patch. The game with the patch become incredible, the career mode is amazing!

The graphics aren't exactly groundbreaking, but I can't help but smile when I see how Tennis Elbow has captured the subtle swing-nuances of each and every pro. Why the big boys (EA, 2K) can't do this is beyond me.

Played some more, and after getting the hang of (most) of the controls, I'm really enjoying it.

Still, not sure if I should get the full version - the player you get to play against in the demo, in the 'training' is terrible. Can I assume the normal players are much better to play against?
(Nvm, I bagelled the first one, so it opened up some more.
Edit again: I bagelled the first few levels, but it's now starting to get much more fun! Liking what I'm seeing.)

Love the subtle sidespins on the slices etc.

How do you serve?

What are the player creation options like (for defining your character's stroke animations etc.)

Is it possible to turn off the 'danger zone' thing, but leave on the aiming assist?

It works very nicely on elite controls and slow auto-positioning. Really getting the feel of it, except serves, drops, lobs, and smashes (I've hit a few classic Verdasco ones, lol)

Another edit: I bought it.
But please still convince me to 'have bought' it :-p I gotta sleep now.

i have bought tennis elbow 2011 for 20 euros ( you can buy it by paypal ) since a few days : just 2or 3 notes :
bad notes : graphism ( so poor differents colors courts ) ; animations for players ; i think it will be very hard to become a great gamer with serve and volley ; graphism of players ; sound : so much noise from supporters while no one in stadium... ; ...
GOOD notes : career mode IN-CRE-DI-BLE : all players since the 20 years before now with all big stars of your dreams ..., differents modes of difficulty very interesting , davis cup , differents styles of players : serve and volley , defender , attacking from the base line..., if you play against a clay player with lot of lift he will send visit the court (lol ) because the rebond is great ;
i will sell my TS4 immediatly to play at tennis elbow because it s the game who has the best gameplay i have seen to play at a real tennis simulation ...
i hope so much players try this game to play at tennis elbow 2011 on itst : it will be a great player moment

If you change court from 3D to 2D and put sam patch it become ultra realistic in sounds , courts and supporters and the game become ultra realistic more and more.

I also struggled with it in the first match, but then in the second match I've found out what I have to do. It works just like the groundstrokes: Hold the button, aim in the right moment and be happy. The second serves can be placed quite easily.

I like the game, especially the movement. So, having played the demo a bit and having sold both TS 4 and GST 2 I will be buying Tennis Elbow 2011.

Question: Is playing with a pad a huge improvement?

I started to play with the pad since day one. Very comfortable! Only thing is, dont try to use the stick for moving/aiming and get a pad with a good D-pad.

Serving is not complicated. It becomes complicated when you play with SIM and Elite controls and your serve rating is set in 70s or lower for precisions and consistency. Maximizing the serve will make it too easy.

Tip: Hold down when serving to execute a kick serve, very helpful on second serves. Hold up to execute a slice serve.

Yeah I've got it now, thanks.
I still suck at lobs and drops, but I can serve quite well now.

That is because the D-pad is more precise then a stick. I TE you dont control the depth of the shot by Up/Down movement, it is a bit different and requires a better degree of precision from controls. For example if you hit while holding Up/Left, you will execute a short going to the left, not a deep shot going to the left as most other games. If you hold Down, you will add more extreme Top Spin to your shots and not automatically hit deep as other games. The depth of the shot is determined mostly by your positioning. To hit a deep penetrating shot you simply have to be in position, have time to setup and time the shot well, Hold the button and Left-Right direction only. Adding Up/Down will result in different shot effects as I mentioned above.

So D-Pad, where you can precisely select Left or Right without engaging Up or Down is very important. More so on Slices, as holding Slice+Up will result in a drop shot, while holding Slice+Down defensive lob.
