Tennis Elbow variety?

Postby willybeama » Mon, 14 Oct 2013 16:42

Hi all, I'm too lazy to make my tennis elbow online. I've been playing against the computer and always end up becoming bored for one big reason. The ball never goes where I want it to go. I try to add spins, change court positioning, try different tactics, and the ball always goes to same pre-destinined place. I typically like to hit short balls before the service lines in rallies. On top spin 3 I could do that easily, but it is almost impossible to do so on this game unless it's cross court. Is there another button I have to push? I'm using a player with no power just so I can achieve some placement and there has been no effect achieved yet. Any advice?

well, I think it's normal that you can place the ball in those corners only with cross court shots  in real tennis do you see any player hitting the ball in those corners with short down the line shots?

Laugh if you like but it doesn't take away from the fact that there is a great deal of nuance lost in Tennis Elbow. I think that's why a lot of players don't play it. It's not just the graphics. The game isn't as realistic as some might like you to think. In real life I can hit short balls incredibly easy. It's next to impossible for me to do the same in TE. You might not think so but there are plenty of players who use short balls in real life down the line. Monfils, Hingis, Murray, Simon, Serena, Jankovic. I'm only pointing out some flaws in the game to hopefully make it a better game if it's being worked on.

You can hit short balls via two options : short normal shot & short acceleration shots.

You assigne these 2 options on two seperate keys of your keyboard, and the miracle happens : you hit short shot !
I even think it's possible to hit short normal SPIN shots !
Maybe the average players of ITST don't use that because of lack of knowledge, but the top players use these shots.

Well i dont know why are you wondering about using short strikes tdl, im using it very often especially from 2hbh and its more than effective against anyone including top players. And with the players such as fed, cilic or tsonga im hitting tdl short strike also from FH side

- OP is complaining about lack of variety compared to Real Tennis
- Me surprised about DTL short balls in relation to real life

Short groundstrokes are very welcome in this games. Not in the last place due to the staggering amount of backboarding. Too bad you don't have those short crosscourt shots from TS4....
