GST2 Tour Start?

Postby Ary1g » Thu, 16 Feb 2012 19:44

I noticed that there are no threads about a GST2 tour here.

I haven't been here for a while so I figured this could be a decent question to the management which many around might wonder about. I'm not going to read through all responses on the previous threads to maybe find my answer, so appreciate if someone could link me to it, or say your thoughts.

Had a Davis Cup final against " locutus----- " on PSN. If you ever encounter him in a tournament match, mark my words, don't start the match! He is the worst/best net exploiter I've played until now. In our 3 set final he rushed to the net 115 times! And that's not the whole story. I even gave him the 2nd set after I won the 1st, to shorten the match. So in 2 sets of 3 games he managed to approach the net 115 times.....! Scoring 46 out of 51 winners from the net. In comparison, I approached the net 22 times total, scoring 9 out of 44 winners. Therefore, being very tired of playing net huggers, I wonder:

When can we expect the ITST GST2 tour to officially begin?

GST2 doesn't let you play best of 6 matches, so.....I'd be surprised if they run a tour.

I could get over the 3*3 matches. Some people probably wouldnt mind the shorter matches. Could someone please tell me if it is true that you cannot select the court you wish to play one. Now that would be a big problem i think.

This is not true, in Grand Slam Corner you can choose any court, create a private lobby and invite a friend -- it is still only 3 sets, 3 games each.

Yeah, I guess there's no harm in running a tour if people would play it -- I know I wouldn't want to; 3 games is way too short. Doesn't even give you time to really develop a strategy against the way they are playing...one break and it's basically over.

Maybe have a best of three matches? Like having best of 3 matches of 3 sets of 3 games until an update arrives. ;)

The biggest problem for me now, is that the arcade button control system is OP against the TotalRaquetControl system.. :/ Hope they'll update it so that the arcade control style becomes the least effective control style.

I'm in for a GST2 Tour here. :) Should be really lovely to play against players who care about tennis and the way it should be played. Not just rushing 100+ times to the net at every occasion... Even I get tired playing them nethuggers. ;)

3 sets to 3 games is really short, but many of these matches are 30 minutes in length. I'd be up for a tour depending on the circumstances with the rules.

Djarvik, what are your thoughts on a tour for GST2?

At this time we have put the plans for GST2 tour on hold. Some of the reasons are the lack of interest, luck-luster reviews, no ability to customize online matches. Should some sort of patch from EA to come through - we will review the possibility once more.

On a personal level, after spending a few days with the game, really giving it a fair chance, I trade it in yesterday. This marks the FIRST tennis game I ever returned. I own them all since around 2004. Money was not the issue, but a feeling of complete violation and rape was. I just had a foul feeling keeping that game, just felt wrong. I know some tennis games were made for different markets/interests, that is why I own all the VT games, but this one was/is a fail, a let down, an attempt from a manufacture to capitalize on their marketing power and TOTALLY mislead a buyer.

This is the most accurate review of this game I've seen.
