Wait, it costs 50$ to visit the cinema? Shit dude, that's expensive. Over here, I can get to see a movie for £5-7 wit student discount, or around £10 without. Then it's another £5-10 depending on whether you want to buy the cardboard food they sell.

And what films recently have last lasted 3 hours? Most films out these days are around 1hr 30, and maybe push 2 hours with adverts at the start. :?

Also, unsure if I will buy the game. It just didn't feel as good to play as the Wii version, from what I played of the demo.

I'll elaborate.

Tickets are $12.50 per person. Me + My wife is 12.50x2 + tax roughly $27. Add to that the drinks and snacks = $50. If I decide to go to the City, then you can throw in a parking of about $20-25 and a trip to a restaurant. I frequently end up taking my sister, which adds another ticket and food costs.

3 hours of entertainment, including driving there, parking and eating.

I am no longer a "student" few years back I could get away with 1 ticket at 8$ and another 5-10$ for a joint. Now everything costs more and I have to pay for others.

I think it all comes down to Entertainment Value. Can you get entertained for as long doing something else for the same amount? ...if yes, then skip the game. I find most other entertainments are either too short or cost more.

its just a different thing. I am not taking side but as i work in the movie industry i would say that the experience is very different. Now video games has more "cinema-things" than before but it's still not the same so its difficult to compare the cost of both "arts".

However i completely understand you Djarvik. Here, cinema is even more expensive and most of the time you end up with massive chance that the movie is garbage. ;)

back to the game: i forgot to add that while i played yesterday, we had a few unforced errors and balls going to the net. This almost surprised me

Oh guys, you can all relax. They released a patch which makes the animations and gameplay more realistic.

got my copy today and after playing for 1 hour or so i'm a bit disappointed :?

for me a game is not only about gameplay, it's also about the atmosphere
here just a few short impressions

the good

+ the courts look amazing...
+ Wimbledon... finally !

the bad

- the Roster... where are Agassi, Seles, Clijsters, Hingis and Graf ?
- the umpire is way too quiet... i don't understand a word when the umpire says the score
- TS4 had some pretty good ideas like the hyper tie-break (tie-break up to 20 or 40 points), GST2 has nothing like this
- it's not possible to change the clothes of your Pro's
- players come way too often to the net
- no printed manual with the game ? seriously, it's my first XBox Game ever that has no manual
- EA forces people to create an account and use their online pass... WTF ?

it seems EA wasted a huge chance to create something big :?

creating your own player compared to TS4 is a bad joke :?
no option to decide if you want to play single or double backhand

also fewer options for the player (body and stuff like this...)

You have an in-game manual.

Learn how to pass and lob your opponent at net ;) Yes, it is actually possible to pass the AI on superstar.
When AI goes for the net, look at it like it's training for online. Before any updates arrive, there's really not much of an experience to play offline. It's nice training, because your passing shots have to be perfectly selected and executed. When you learn how to deal with the AI, you are better than most players online atm. ;)

I've had some great online matches and it's online this game really shines!
This game needs much more than one hour to experience the full depth of the shot system and how it works. Believe me, when you get the hang of it, you will start to love how this game plays. Yes, it still needs adjustments in certain areas, but people throw in the towel way to early just because the game didn't meet their expectations. This game has more depth than it seems.

I didn't have any problem with online pass. I've had it for years, so no registrations for me.

Not going to write a novel tonight. Will write a full review in a few days or weeks. Looking forward to see if EA are going to bring us any updates. Hopefully it won't be abandoned after release.

I thought I had to activate the online pass somewhere in the game, but also that code had to be activated in the PSN menu. It still says "Online Pass Inactive", though, but I can play online.

That's all I did so far, playing some matches online. Mostly players online who think that rushing the net on every point is the best tactic - especially when they realize they don't stand a chance from the baseline with Nadal against me playing as Henin. You cannot just rush the net against someone who knows what he is doing, that's good.

Now I'll hit the practice courts offline and take a look at the career mode, because as a Move user it is essential to master your timing for your shots. In the retail version the timing is a bit different compared to the demo (for Move users, didn't play with the pad).
