Can the guys who have the game share with us a bit about player creation? Stroke animation?

Thanks!

Check out the vid I linked to above. It shows quite alot from the player creation. From 3.16 and forward.

Of course we do. But how should I see this Game as a serious Try to simulate Tennis if even a simple Element as the Animations are laughable.

Maybe it has a lil bit more Depth as it seems first but real Excitement looks different. ^^

I just played the first Time on Roland Garros and I really like the Idea of the Maincourts and typical Sidecourts of a real Grand Slam.

I will try the Careermode the first Time today to look what the Player Creation has to offer.

My first Impression was just a Result of my first Onlinematch yesterday.

To me the Game seems a lil bit rushed without real Braineffort to develop a great Simulation.

Of course everybody has different sights how a modern Tennis Game has to be, but the first Impressions didn't blow me away to say it kind.

It's like I said. Excitement looks different. But I will give it a Chance.

Maybe my first sight of the Game was rash but I wouldn't be to sure. ^^

It looks like you basically choose your animations based on the Pros :P not a bad idea.

And yeah Cro! I can finally make Tipsarevic!!! ...I wanted for the longest time to make him, seriously.

Corrected. ;)

Tennis isn't about animations, simulation isn't about animations. A definition of "Tennis" would be nice, but that's impossible because tennis changed a lot. Neither Top Spin 4 nor GST 2 are tennis simulations by the way, both are different interpretations of tennis. You don't have to like the interpretation, but you can at least provide some substantial feedback on how well the developers executed their interpretations.

Well put. I haven't played the full game yet, only 20 or so matches in the demo and my main complaint so far (except the obvious) is the lack of variety in the matches. But it's hard to judge by only playing two opponents on one court. I suspect that there is alot more depth to the AI and I hope it will be more difficult. Because now I beat the AI pretty easily on superstar (not meant to be seen as bragging, but please do so if you wish)

now i got my copy too. first of all i really like it. its a funny game with great rallies. its not realistic tennis but very funny tennis. against a real player the game improves a lot. I really like the game but its a arcade game a no simulation. i mean i played ag Nadal at the French Open a he run to the net like Patrick Rafter :D
so if you like a great arcade game buy it but if you think of a simulation better spend your money maybe in Topspin 5
and sienna you played Topspin 4 with serve 100 a power hundred so i think you better play Battlefield then a tennis game  so i dont know what you mean with simulation?

@Sinna: Hmm... dont know, I think you expected the game to be a better ts4, but it is something completly different. Cant believe it is so much worse then all the past games you stated.

@polakis: "Teribble service system " ??? For me its the best ever seen in any tennis game. But hey, after your forum activity in ts4 - phew, good to know you wont play THIS game

@Ary1g: Mostly +1

Ok, thats enough defending of a game I didnt own yet. Im not one of the "one handed backhands = bad game" guys, but I respect them. It seems to be something like a question of faith. 2 things I know for sure:
1. GST will not be enjoyable for everyone.
2. The game engine is much deeper than it may first shine.
I just hope for the best.

LOL very funny. Keep walking...

I already figured out how the Stickserve works. I mean the Placement and Power without looking in the Instruction.

Later I'll test it a bit more.

I didn't work. It looks like only Parts of my Face were generated. Can't really describe it but I would show it to you. Didn't work. ^^

Fun factor > everything else.

If the game is fun, then the rest (animations, player movement, etc.) is just window dressing. Nice, hell yeah, but not important.

... and for those who keeping harping about the importance of window dressing, I suggest you purchase a tennis racquet and a map that will direct you to your neighborhood tennis court. :P 8)

That's what happens against the AI, if it happens against humans, too, then the game is too limited. It works well to win points in various ways against the AI, but it is not necessary.

The AI won't be much better I guess (it is at least better than in the original GST), but that's what happens with every sports game: In the end it depends on the multiplayer (offline and online).
