Grand Slam Tennis 2 is amazing multiplayer!

Postby AndyMurray ITST » Sat, 14 Jan 2012 02:34

Been playing GST2 demo all night with a mate and i have to say its so different playing against another real person rather than CPU. Its so much better. Try it, ! Ok its a little bit arcadey but its so much more balanced and exciting than Ts4 even thoughh i love Ts4.

The rallies are way more exciting. It makes Ts4 seem sterile. We are gonna have fun online with this, trust me. Do not believe the negative views on this board. try it with 2 players!

In a way it reminds me of Smash Court Tennis 2 somehow and that was great if you gave it a chance and got over the weird ball sounds etc

I will try it, but the single player is balls for sure.

So may be. But to say "don't believe the negative reviews" is quite misguiding since everybody is talking about single player and very obvious flaws of this game.

I for one will possibly still buy the game for some mp matches. But I'll read a few reviews first. I popped TS4 back in yesterday after playing about 30 mins of the demo, and in comparison TS4 is a fantastic game! :)

AndyMurrayITST is spot on. I agreed with all of the criticism in the other threads at first but now that I've gotten my TS4 doubles partner on it with me?...GAME OVER!

He is not exaggerating when he says TS4 loses compared to GS2. This is Battlefield 3 vs MW3 almost but not exactly because TS4 is still Simulation, albeit a WEAK Sim compared to GS2.

The AI really is absolute shit but actual player control? It's unparalleled on any level. They do need to fix certain animations (two handed backhands are a must to be accurate) and I would Love a "sprint" button accompanied by a "stamina" meter but that's about it. I figure with the "sprint" button the crazy speed would be there only when you're burning fuel from the tank rather than the automatic coked out speed it is now.

If for nothing else, GS2 deserves merit on this site for the SERVING SYSTEM alone. It IS Tennis. It is what TS4 tried to do and Failed at. The amount of control and variability in serve style, pace, and placement is just mind-blowing.

I know it sounds like a rant at this point but I'm only posting because I was so very much with most of you before I played a real person. That's when it Clicked and I realized how amazing this game will be.

Oh and for all of you afraid of the joysticks, use the buttons!!! They are the same as TS4 in how you hold to power and use the LEFT stick to aim. Try playing it with TS4 controls and you will see very quickly that this game is beyond legitimate.

This may be a dumb question, but will there be an online tour hosted here for GS2? With TS4 I am a newcomer and never felt like I was able to get anything going against established players. I would however like another shot once GS2 comes out.

This is what I was hoping for, that versus a real human player the experience would be different than against the crap A.I. I do like the feel of the shots etc. etc. so I'm really excited to see how this plays out in 2 weeks upon release. If it's good enough I'll probably join up here for some ITST tournaments, and I have a game capture device so I look forward to putting some footage up online.
