Welcome to the ITST Davis Cup 2011! The best players of each country will battle it out to see which nation is best!
Each Davis Cup team consists of max. 5 players with 1 team captain. The team selection can be changed for each encounter, the captain is fixed so he'll manage his team throughout the Cup. To sign up the captain of a country must post in The NEW Davis Cup Registration Thread with his team for the 1st round encounter. If you want to be a captain you must discuss this with your fellow countrymates. We do not make the decision who's captain of a country!
Format
The Davis Cup will be a knockout tournament. A maximum of 16 countries can enter. When your country loses an encounter they're out of the Cup. When the draw's made the home country can decide on what court the encounter will be played. An encounter will consist of 5 singles matches played by the best of 5 principle. When a country has won 3 matches the remaining rubbers will be best of 3 sets. The format of the encounter will be:
Match #1: Player B vs Player A
Match #2: Player A vs Player B
Match #3 (SIM): Player C vs Player C
Match #4: Player A vs Player A
Match #5: Player B vs Player B
The captain can also let the two reserve players play the last two matches. Note that all matches should be played in this order. So the first match will be Player 2 of the home team versus Player 1 of the away team.
Regional Teams
If you are the only player from a country, or a country that has only 2 members, post on the Not Enough Players From Your Country? Post Here thread.
We will attempt to form a team for you. The rules will be:
You must first attempt to form a team for your country. If your country already has a team, you must ask to be on that team. If that team is full, you must attempt to form a new team for your country.
If you cannot form a team, place your name and country in this thread. Then will we place you on a team consisting of players from the same geographic region. For instance: Team South America, Team Scandinavia, Team Asia.
We will only allow geographic teams if there is room left in the draw. So, if we already have 8 or 16 teams, we will not allow this type of team.
