USA Davis Cup Team

The event where it's not about the players, it's about the countries! Talk about the great Davis Cup here.

i struggle mostly with the they'rereallyfreakin'good setup.

i lost to dionl1993 (6-2, 6-2) and strategyguide94 (7-5, 6-2).

they both not use the power setup. i do. i should've beaten them. i couldn't. i was outmatched. i wasn't having good mental days, but still. i've played dapery on WT and the gap is noticeable. i played Norberto H in Wimby QF and got outclassed as well.

just when i think i can hang with the big dogs, i get a huge reality check.

and i truly don't know what they feed them in France. but whatever it is, it's working. the Germans and Austrians are strong too.

yes, i need more practice. but i already spend an inordinate amount of time on this game and ITST. i have a heavy nerdmancrush on both. but perhaps it's time to focus on real life for a bit.

awww, screw it. i'm going to go play a few sets.
anyone game?

nah i felt the same way in the past with TS3, now i hardly have time to play TS4, but i remember i asked to Norbert once if he was using a different controller, no joking, i could not understand what was going on there, it's a video game for God's sake!!, i thought to myself "we all have the same controller with the same buttons,no? so why these top guys are constantly beating me?, nosense"
I even thought lag was something to do with my results, not huge lag you know? almost imperceptible lag, i sent several messages to some guys saying "damn i had lag man!, a shame" and they replying " i didn't feel anything" and i was WTF? hahaha,i think some guys can always hit perfect shots due to his "lack" of lag....

My advice, just enjoy the game man, the competition, and have fun.

About the france guys, they love this game because 8 out of 10 guys playing the WT are french

BTW if you wanna get your confidence back, shoot me an invitation if you see me online, we'll hit some balls.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

thanks for your sympathetic moral words. i've been playing a bit better lately (knock on wood). been playing random matches with BluddyEff, BillVal, duuderino, macknasty, and i feel like i'm getting a better feel for the control shot timing. still, i played a really good player on WT with TI/MD and got trounced (still, i invited him to join ITST.)
i did play a one setter against Baggy and won (yay!). well, it was a tiebreak. and he was off the first few games. but still, yay! i'm sure he can't wait to play me again so he can demoralize me (pun somewhat intentional).

my family's in town until early next week. then i'll add you and we can toss some balls. i'm trying out the SVK/RS setup (Neuwirth?), and so far it's decent. high powered (87), yes, but no IR means i have to play more control shots. i'm trying to stay away from the yummy IR/CPS (not maxxed out), just so djarvik has no excuse to hate me.
see you around!

i know you don't hate me, i was exaggerating for the sake of humor. :)
i reserve the right to use it against you in a tourney, though. if anything, just for the psychological edge :P

by the way, the thing that you do with the RB button and the Approach Shot coach (you know, where you use it with a shot but not actually approach the net), does it fall under the 'exploiting a glitch' clause? i'm just curious. not accusing you of anything.

juuuuust wondering. and perhaps inciting a debate for the sake of raising all of our Edberg levels.

Ahhh but here is the thing, I did approach the net. Ended up with 19 out 26 points (or similar) in one set. I don't like not approaching the net and use RB, but sometimes there is no choice, my Guy freezes mid court despite me frantically pushing forward, so I kinda give up and move back.

When someone who has 0 intent to come to net does it, and doesn't have the skill that goes along with that button...then...ahh....f$#% it

BTW, this was not my "tournament" player  ha! Mental edge back to me. 8)

i'm officially quitting the Davis Cup team. i can't compete with the IR/CPS players. i haven't been using my IR/CPS player the last couple of weeks out of principle. why? 'cause i'm foolish.
i can't compete at the top level. no need to pretend i can. it's been fun. i'll still play practice matches.
sorry if it's last minute. but there's people willing and able to replace me.

yes, getting double-bageled by TimTebowner the last tourney was one of the turning points.

good luck to all,

hope you win it.
