SIM warm-up tournaments feedback

Postby djarvik » Sat, 03 Sep 2011 01:03

Please use this thread to give us some feedback and match reports on the matches you play in warm-up tournaments.

It would be great if you can take a screenshot of the stats at the end of the match. This will help us see if there are problem areas needing fixing.

I will create the draws shortly for the two of the warm-ups with Draw of 16.

Third warm-up tournament will remain open for late signups, will be Draw of 32 and will start on Monday.

Good luck everyone!

I dont think this should be points based as of yet. Just until all the fwwdbaxk comes in. Fortis nakamura n lopez seem to be the players choice so far. I hope all goes well. An we get some fair and good games.

I've played my first sim tournament match with cannon today and I wanna return my feeling. I think with this level of stamina, you can't play in an offensive baseliner spirit. I wanna say, when you've hit 2 power shots, you don't have stamina remaining.. How can we agresse and agresse again (wich is for me the offensive baseliner spirit) our opponnent? So you have to mix controled shot and power shot to take the advantage. No problem with that but again, it's not the offensive baseliner spirit for me, more all arounder.
I hope that's clear I'm not talking about the dificulty to control this character but only the SPIRIT of play.
So what do you think about it guys?

i think Cannon is excellent i haven't had any problems with his stamina yet. You got to finish off points quickly and he has a great volley along with Diesel Hard Hitter. Once you have your opponent on the run come to net. Its probably the way you played with him. You can even serve and volley with him, i do it quite alot of times, it surprises your opponents and you get easy points. Just my opinion :)

I "get" what you saying. I think we need more time. I have had a chance to play with Cannon, Jensesn and Bashamakov and I can certainly end the point ts fast, when I do everything right:

- WELL placed first serve
- Perfectly timed AND charged stroke with your strongest side
- ...placed to the weaker side of your opponent

Trouble starts when your serve is not well placed. It doesn't matter how hard you serve, if you are not hitting it near the lines - the return is most times too good to create a 1-2 punch type of points.

I think as time goes by, some players will be very effective with these builds. But it will require near perfect serve and timing.

Wow,

I appear to be the only Fusman, in all 3 SIM Tournaments! That's one out of 64! I'm already feeling lonely

I'll try to pay extra attention to how my match unfolds, as I'll currently be the only source of feedback on Fusman.
I used to think I was indecisive... but now I'm not so sure.

Understood djarvik! Maybe the 1-2 punch type of point each time is a little bit to hard for me... So the only possibility in the case of long rallies is to use controled shots to keep your stamina. Again, the pb is the spirit of offensive baseliner.
I think I'll try bashmakov to see... More stamina but a weak forehand and backhand... let's see...

Hey

I just had my first SIM match I chose to play Lopez and, apparently, he is a popular guy.

I find that he is a very nice player. I'm specially impressed with his defensive topspin shots when on the run. They are usually very deep and allow you to recover very well.

He's serve is not a weapon but does the job. Very good returner! He has very decent net skills which you will need to finish some points specially towards the end of a set when you get tired.

These are the stats of the match against flobodan's bashmakov.

Just my luck. I am new here and have to play against Number 1 in the world....Of course I lost...I did not expect anything else :(

The score was 6/2, 7/6 for Likos86321....

But it was a real tight match...I think I just came not along with FORTIS very well I don't know... I was all the time so far behind the baseline. Could not use the forehand for my advantage. The good serve did not help me out either.... In the second set at 5/4 I had the chance winning the set but Likos was too good in the important moments....
I have to admit, that I was so nervous all the time....

I am thinking about changing my player...All the time I had the feeling, that it was a very slow gameplay....So different then the World Tour I play usually.
I dunno If I should stay with FORTIS for the SIM-Tour or try another one? What would you advise??

I dunno If I can ever win a match.... I am just feeling disappointed now ;-( :?
