Resuming PlayStation 3 Tour (Important Information!)

Postby SlicerITST » Mon, 16 May 2011 23:55

It is great to hear the PlayStation Network is up and running again. We hope that it will be stable for a long time to come. Because of the downtime many of our tournaments have been seriously delayed or had not started yet. We are thus sending you this message to explain what our course of action will be to get the tour back on track.
Firstly, the tournaments that were still in sign up during these past few weeks will start as soon as possible. The draws for the week of the Madrid Mutua Open have been created and play can commence for these tournaments. The sign up for the Rome Masters will stay open for a little while longer. On the 19th of May these tournaments will be started. This is to make sure that players can schedule their matches better for these tournaments.

Secondly, the tournaments that were already running will receive new deadline dates in the next two days. Please check your draws and start arranging times to play quickly. These deadlines will be more extensive then the old deadlines.

The problem that will arise with all these tournaments running so close to each other is that you might be faced with a lot of matches to play. We are going to ask our hosts to be lenient in some cases. It is important to communicate well with them. If you have several matches upcoming and intend to play all of them then tell your hosts this and they will be lenient. In cases where no corresponding starts they will act quickly though to ensure tournaments get completed as soon as possible.

EDIT: Changes have been made, please read the whole thread. -djarvik

Slice, IMO I think ITST should just quit the tournaments that were running when the PSN went offline. There is no point in making all the members play many games consecutively, I'm not even sure they have time to play.
I think we should go straight to Roland Garros :P

Yeah I think skip the ones that missed when psn down. But ones that were started finish. Otherwise going to be a lot of matches to be played, harder to organise ect.

I realise there might be some scheduling issues. You might even have to chose which matches you want to play and which not. If everyone does his best communicating i am positive it can be done.

The reason i prefer to play the tournaments is 2 fold. Firstly i believe that if we finish this we have a more meaningful ranking when Wimbledon comes around. Secondly, a lot of new players had signed up for these tournaments. Also, current players that signed up but stopped visiting itst because of the downtime. If they are contacted by the currently active players they might be motivated to start signing up for tournaments again.

Yeah I think all the tournaments should be played, even if some people can't play all their matches. It's important for future ranking for some of the upcoming big events (grand slams) and it's just be better for the tour and more meaningful for the rankings to follow the ATP tour with all of the tournaments of the year.

As a side note, all rounds will be cut down to 2 days for the tournaments that are running late.

Tournaments affected:
Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters
Blumenau, Brazil
Barcelona Open BancSabadell
Prog. Napoli, Italy
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix WS
Santos, Brazil
ProEstoril Open
Serbia Open
BMW Open
Barcelona Ladies Open WS
Mutua Madrid Open
Mutua Madrid Open WS
Mutua Madrid Open DT
Prague, Czech Republic
Argentina 4 (ranking 100+)

We need to speed this up. If you think you cannot play the match in 2 days, then please notify your opponent and host. You will be given points for the round you reached and your opponent will be issued a WO.

I understand this may upset some, but this is absolutely necessary at this point to catch up.

Reminder: it is very important you make contact with your opponent as soon as possible. Since all rounds run at 2 day rate. If I do not see contact in 2 days I will declare "no match".

Lets try and finish some tournaments before we launch Roland Garros!

IMPORTANT: Players can report scores only. Please, do not report blank scores. If you think you should be getting a WO, contact either your host or me. I will be removing all submitted blank scores.

I understand. And hope for the best. But at the same time we need to get moving on these. Asia maybe getting the short end of the stick right now. Just remember, I will still honor points for rounds reached if you are unable to play.

I have updated Brazil tournament (I know the host, Nick maybe a bit busy) but for the Barcelona please contact Fedfan via PM.

Once again, all rounds will be on a 2 day deadline for the tournaments that are running late. Console your hosts or me via PM if you cannot play within 2 days and make sure to send your next opponent available times asap.

We need to to complete as many matches as possible this week and weekend.

Cancel your weekend plans guys! :P
