VillaJ100 wrote:True, i reckon the average ages of a hacker must be 18-40 and virginity % levels well in the 90's. I just can't see how doing it is fun, like hacking like this, its like virtually smashing stuff to pieces, but we all know its more fun doing it in real life with a sledgehammer.
I suppose thats why games are so popular, they are fun and entertaining but we would all rather be serving for the match at 5-4 in the 5th against federer at wimbledon at real life. But as we can't, its the next best thing! And because most of these hackers are probably socially inept loners, who are probably relatively intelligent, its their way of controlling part of the world. Like behind the screen they are god.

You see ones saying like "oh im a hacker and i have this supermodel girlfriend and crap loads of dollar" but they just don't. Some for sure probably are quite normal, but i'm pretty sure most are the sterotypical nerd. I know its not that PC but i'm a bit of a believer in stereotypes, they have to come from somewhere, and i think most hackers fit the bill of theirs quite well.

Yeah a lot of people who are intelligent technically (with things like maths and coding etc.) have poor social skills. People always think of intelligence as someone who can solve impossible equations but I think social intelligence is often overlooked. It's a completely different branch of intelligence and like technical intelligence, people who lack it just can't figure out how to use or improve those skills. I think a lot of people have brains geared more towards one or the other. That's why we see a lot of people like hackers, who are technically proficient, struggle when it comes to the social aspects of life.

It is a bit about control and attention. They find it hard to get these in their normal everyday lives so this is their way of making up for it. It's kinda like when poor people get jealous of rich people and vandalise their stuff. It's their way of getting society's attention and the feeling of being able to control the monetary gap between the two.

I also don't think they're scared at all about the whole Sony going after them deal. They generally do things like this to generate attention and they'll be loving all of this, big news everywhere about what they've 'achieved'. They also have a feeling of invincibility because they know they're so good at what they do so they won't believe they'll be caught. Only once they're caught and threatened with the consequences and reality of the situation will they be scared.

Do you think they will be caught? I wasn't so sure but I think with the FBI and department of homeland security involved the odds are better now

FBI usually means business, so I'd be VERY careful from now on if I were them. I'm pretty sure Sony has set an trap for them should they try the same thing again.

Have you played Heavy Rain? Great game. Although some people have argued its more a 'interactive film'. But i loved it. Each time you play through you get different endings and scenarios, and i can't remember what i picked last time so its all fun again. Just started God of War 3 again too. Aside from that i've just been playing Gran Turismo 5, top spin 4 career mode, and trying to get 100% on red dead redemption!

Yeah Heavy rain! Great game, i ve even tried to play it with move but could not play it as good and accurate as my controller. Been addicted to this game.

I ll give a try for red dead redemption, i heard good things about it.

If you like good stories in a game, you might want to try Yakuza 4. I heard LA Noire will be a game in a similar stile like Heavy Rain, I hope Rockstar pulls it off.

Yeah its a top drawer game, to be honest I wasn't all that impressed with GTA4 so was wary of it being too hyped, but it really lived up to it, one of my favourite game of all time.

LA noire looks great, I like crime dramas a lot, my favourite tv show is SVU. And the facial expressions are off the scale

Yeah, I thought GTA4 was actually kinda mediocre -- nowhere near as fun as Vice City or San Andreas. And for all the talk about it having an amazing storyline....it just didn't. At all.

Red Dead Redemption though? Amazing.

I was a big fan of gta4, but I was kind of suspecting it to be that style. I mean if expecting a san andreas(which was awesome) I can definitely see how people can be disappointed. The physics engine was just soooo good though haha.

One game recently that absorbed so much time fallout new vegas, I'm so glad it froze quite often as may have resulted in me not sleeping.

Also red dead ending how good was that?

Red Dead Redemption? It's probably because I don't like the setting, but I gave up after playing a few hours, it just didn't get me.

GTA IV was a good game, but indeed when comparing it to Vice City and especially San Andreas it was very different. For some in a good way, but I didn't like it as much. Finished the storyline, but haven't replayed it since, while I must have finished San Andreas like 6 times (of which 2 or 3 to 100% even), en Vice City twice.

Gotta get into Gran Turismo 5 a bit more, especially since I have a nice racing wheel.

L.A. Noire could be a great game indeed. Also I still have to play Heavy Rain. Just don't want to buy a new game as long as I haven't finished my current games. But by now it'll probably be cheaper.

Another series I like is Uncharted. Great games, until a certain point. Finished the 1st game, but haven't finished the 2nd game, as I hated the story twist. Don't want to give it away for if someone hasn't played it yet, but those who have played might know what I'm talking about, it happened in both games, quite towards the end.

Been playing now metal gear solid 4 for the second time. I forgot how great that game is. Im still thrilled by the graphics, story, cinematics and basically everything after three years that was released.

I recommend it to anyone that has it on his shelf to take the dust off it :)
