Pro, Challenger and Future tour news! (updated 7-11-2011)

Postby djarvik » Thu, 23 Jun 2011 19:31

(this thread will be changing from time to time, please keep an eye on it)

Current tournament entree rules:

Grand Slams and Masters - open entree, qualification rounds will be held.
Pros (250, 500) - minimum rank of 100 required to enter.
Challenger - maximum rank of 60 to enter.
Future- maximum rank of 120 to enter.

Please, enter tournaments of your level. This is paramount to ITST success.

Important info
- There are a few levels of Challenger and Futures tournaments, each carry a different point count. Please check the tournament page for exact point break down per round.
- The rank at the moment of signup will be the determining factor for entree.
- The futures and challenger events now will start on the same day. You will no longer be able to participate in both at this time.
- If the draws (Pro level) are not full by the end of the week, we may open the tournaments to lower ranked and un-ranked players.
- If you already registered for Future or Challenger event tournament, you will not be eligible to enter a Pro tournament.

I really feel very very upset that I can no longer to play the Challenger!!!!!! :( :( I think just set the maximum rank for Future is enough.
one thing is most important in ITST: Respect

Shouldn't there be a minimum ranking to play ITST 250/500/1000?
Just an idea..

I understand the need for this rule, but at the same time I have an awful record (3-13) and can't remember the last time I won a match, lol. Yet somehow I'm still ranked 111 and can't signup for a futures event even though I know I can't win in the 250s or higher right now. I need more match play at the futures and just need to get some wins, but can't even do that now.

I just think there should be some flexibility to the signup limit, if someone doesn't think they can compete in 250s they should be able to signup for the futures and not be forced to lose match after match until their rank drops low enough.

You can play Challengers.

But we have to set a ranking limit. Some people would just play Challengers and Futures so they could keep getting easy wins.

Yeah but there are more players like that than expected :?

I think I have a quite good level and I've never won a future tournament (I played only two futures).

I really enjoy this new rule even if, like dsavbeast said, some players will be
disadvantaged due to a rank that will not allow them to play in a tournament matching their real level.

Anyway it's really hard to please every one I think.

One thing that could be real fun is to kind of unlock the right to participate to a higher tournament. (Like in the career)

By the way, in my opinion, playing against players with a higher level is the best way to grow better. Playing against top seeds is kinda privilege even if it's frustrating sometimes ^^
