NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT: Challenger & Futures Tour

Postby Baghdad Baghdatis » Sat, 04 Jun 2011 21:02

All,

I joined the ITST team a month ago with my remit being news writing specifically for all Challenger and Futures Tournaments on both the XBOX and PS3 tours.

As you may of seen from the news headlines homepage I have written and posted a handful of articles so far and now I am a bit more seasoned I wanted to share some thoughts and open the floor up to you all.

Firstly, the Challenger and Futures tour are an excellent addition to the site. More recently due to the level of interest in TS4 and subsequent high influx of new members these tours have come alive.

These tours are a great way for "newbies" to find their footing in ITST and get some valuable match practice under their belts. Furthermore, if you develop your talent you may set your sights higher on 250, 500, 1000 & the Grand Slams but nevertheless emphasis will never be removed from these equally important circuits! Which leads me to my point...

A key part of writing accurate news reports relies to a somewhat large degree on what you write in your "Match Report". I appreciate due to time commitments or depending on the match you may choose not to report however where possible your feedback would be most appreciated. The report does not need to be exhaustively long but ideas of what to include can be any of the following:

* Match stats (e.g. winners, break points etc)
* The style of your opponent (e.g great forehand, timing, resilience)
* Your style of play or tactics
* Positive feedback about your opponent or congratulations
* Negative feedback (which will be posted ay my discretion)
* Any other match feedback or analysis welcomed

Right, thats all from me. If any members have any feedback on the news writing so far, good or bad, or you have any suggestions of what you would like to see included please feel free to either post here or send me a private message (PM).

Thanks
Baghdad

I'll try to do it even if it's not easy for me to write a match report in english.

Thanks Baghdad, this will be really fun. Those articles are great and make the tour more "living"

Your News were great so far, and its allways Fun to read something about this tours progress, but i dont know if you can encourage so much ppl to write 500 words about a 6:0 6:2 1st round Future Match :-) at least i will try to do so, as i was really impressed with the Report sherlock wrote about our Roland garros 2nd round match :D

Match reports don't need to be long. Even if you just say something like:

"I broke him at 4-4, and served out the set" or "I was 0-5 on break points"....

It makes a huge difference by giving the news writers at least some idea of what the match was like.

Just wondering, what's the best way for a loser to report on the match if the winner has already gone and reported the match result himself? PM the tournament host? PM one of the news team?

You can still report in the normal way even if your opponent has already done so. Just make sure you post the result the correct way around ie 2-6 2-6
XBOX360 MSS - 2 Titles
PS3 MS - 2 Titles

Me too. I thought it would count as an invalid match result and crash the site. :P
