To be honest, I am also in the same boat. I mean I win matches...but never feel as comfortable as I did in TS3.
In TS3 I truly felt in control, I felt I could create points, I felt I could switch tactics, from defense to offense, I felt like I could counter-punch and so on.
In TS4 it all feels so pre-determined. The rallies I mean. I just know where the rally is going and I can see the point unfold before it happens, but sadly, I don't feel I have much control to drastically change the outcome.
Biggest issue for me is not even creating points, I can do that with the best of them, problem is, that now no ones misses. So that takes away a lot of point creation and makes it all about opening up the court by pulling opponent off of it. Which is fine I guess, but is only one way to score. There are many, many more ways.
In TS3, I could make ANYONE miss shots. I could employ strategy of confusing opponent into miss-timing the shot, the risk. I could hit the same "control" shots (even thou I was one of the few that did, most didn't) but have the "right effect". The effect of changing pace from a booming risk to a soft short spiny shot and having your opponent pre-press at baseline and simply look silly.
I could go on for pages.
TS3 had TONS of things wrong with it, but one thing was very right. It still the best SIM on consoles to date.
TS4 has the potential. but it is being killed right now with H U G E timing windows. Too early, too late - it dont matter - it all goes in!
A simple shrinkage of timing window can make TS4 superb! ...but that will displease most "gamers" as they are looking for more "accessible" tennis game.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...
