From what i have witnessed so far ,,, There is a strong issue with character balance .

I really enjoy the game when it comes to using the in game pros. In these matches , strategy and skill come into play. However , using my defensive guys with 68 power against stacked world tour guys has completely spoilt the game for me.

This is the 30-100 ts3 thing all over again ! Until something is done , most of us will have to resort to creating offensive powerful players to remain competitive...

OH JOY !

One of the goals of Warm up tournaments is to gauge what we need to do if anything. Every opinion counts.

Yes. But as I mentioned man, I have sent a list (per 2K request) of things we would like to be adjusted. They ARE working on a patch. 2K are going to be behind the game for some time.

We need to be patient and try and see what else we can discover.

Too early to make promises. One thing is for sure, we will support the game to the best of our abilities.

Anyhow, lets use this thread for impressions of actual matches. As I mentioned, try to post your player stats and skills and opponents. This will help us tremendously.

Well, i've been completely ouplayed and outpowered by Dapery (O and 1)... Like by everybody i played before...
Even when i was able to reach his 214 Km/h ext serves, the ball was rebounding poorly in front of my feet... (tried charged returns, and quick tapped returns)
Against me, all you have to do is play a couples of balls on a side, and then you can send a scud down the line, or wrongfoot me...
I have one match vs Goa, and then i won't be playing that game anymore...
I can't return well, i can't counter well, i can't attack well (charged or quick taped shots), i can't handle rallies well, too much timing skills needed...
i can't even finish a point when (somehow) i've managed to take an advantage... And even so, my opponent can hit an even more "alleluia" shot than me to kill me...
And that wrong footing "glitch" is really the last nail on my coffin... :(
(it's not sore loosing, i give you guys all the credits of the world, all victories highly deserved, but that new gameplay is just not fine for me... Though i liked it a lot at start! :( )

Don't lose faith man. The wrong foot bug is in 2K hands now. I am sure they will address it with a patch. Too big of a bug to simply ignore.

As for timing on the shots, I'll give you a tip that will help tremendously :P

Use flat shots only when you are well in position and have time to charge. Otherwise use top spins only.

For returns.... try Serve Counter or Diesel return skill, and try to get your reflexes up. It works.

Good call.

Well with the warm up tournaments kicking off I am going to use my custom player known as "King Baghdad".

Forehand 68
Backhand 78
Serve 82
Volley 50
Power 67
Stamina 70
Speed 62
Reflexes 58

Style: 4 Serve & volley / 10 offensive baselliner / 6 defensive baseliner

Skills: Wrong Foot Expert + Slice Invasion

I agree with Puttu that on first impressions there is an balance issue with players however saying that I understand now it is important for members to use whatever player custom they are comfortable with - by posting player XP's, skills and more importantly the results (including match statistics) it should go some way in identifying these imbalances if a good percentage of members in all the 5 mens & 2 women's warm-up tournaments give feedback.

Al - would it be an idea to for ITST management to send a PM out to all members involved in the warm-up tournaments to encourage their post match feedback and perhaps including the link for this sticky thread? Only a thought....

My spin is that in the warm up tournament I will be using my more SIM like player, King Baghdad, because I want to concentrate more on seeing how he matches up against the bigger setups. For me, the focus is on review of members / custom players both in matches and on threads rather than on worrying about whether I win or not.

However as Puttu said, if lower power (for example) proves to be unsuccessful then we may all have to "create offensive baseline powerful players to remain competitive" once the ITST tour starts on 4th April until the the restrictions or feedback from 2k is announced :)

Game on....

I know i'll keep trying... I won't give it up right now cause i still believe i can improve my timing... Maybe my "and then i quit" was a bit overreacted, but i am truly amazed by the gap between you guys and me... It makes me think that the timing is really "short" = really "hard"....

Top spins only? But that's no fun!... Haha! Sorry... But i don't want to play "rafa" tennis only...
Just kidding guys...
Ok Djarv', i see what you mean... I'll work on that, thanx!

That was my first set up... I'll try it again...

Trust me, I love Flat shots more then anything :P but they got nerfed! ...and simply dont work anymore unless you have 85+ power, that even if you time it wrong, still comes with tons of pace.

Lost to oDevelisho as Jankovic 6-1 6-4 to his Sharapova with 90 forehand 100 power 91 serve 40 speed, special stats were inside out master and dorsal hard hitter. First set I could do nothing, playing with a defensive player is very unforgiving as my top spin cross courts were just getting cut off and pummelled and my returns did nothing and were just swatted away.

The annoyig thing was even with 40 speed on the clay she was just sliding for balls and hitting cross court winners, rubbish movers should not all be able to slide about on a clay court it should be a skill.

I broke from nowhere at 3-3 when trailing 40-0 but he broke back next game and again to win. I was winning less than 50% of points behind the serve and he was close to 90. I was 21-4 winners he was 58-5, that should not be possible.

Was fun overall though and well played my opponent.

@ Amazing Matheja - man I am liking player stats. From what I remember in TS3 you kind of liked to volley a bit? Think we had a SIM match in the french open or something? As Djarvik said just persevere a bit - good advice also is to UP your reflexes if you are not a natural returner. I used Aggasi in the Pro list a few times and not only can he block returns but he can also put it back with interest!

Also - if you like your core set up in the main (i.e FH, BH, SV) but want to build on some smaller details perhaps you could take 20 XP (for example) off Stamina @ 94XP and find a coach that will give you 10 XP more on reflexes (for your return of serve) and 10 XP more on your volley. Or whatever combination or changes you like of course :)

As I said before, I remember you liked to volley in TS3 - I have put 50 XP on volley, as you can see, and whilst it is not a lot I find volleying with 50 XP a HUGE difference to volleying with 39 XP (Agassi) or 39 XP in the case of your "El Croco" (nice name btw). Obviously it is no monster volley but as long as you get close to the net quick enough it can be effective - especially what I love is if you put a deep cross court shot that has your opponent stretching or blocking back you can cut the floater return off short with A or B (X does not seem to do the job). Also serve + volley is doable on the odd point to mix it up and it helps as I have a decent serve but still....

Sharapova with 90 forehand 100 power 91 serve 40 speed

Geeeeeepers! Fed I am surprised you managed to stay in the match at all with those monster stats

However, I don't know what XP stats Jankovic has got as the Pro as only played women's in the demo...but I am guessing they are not as big as the core stats at 90-100 XP?

P.s. by Core I mean Forehand, Backhand, Power & Serve (my terminology really)

Well played oDevlisho, I am sure you will be a big force in women's as you were in TS3, whatever the XP levels the ITST members are allowed to build to in the coming months....
