If u lose by WO...no points at all?

Postby Saarbrigga » Wed, 19 Oct 2011 15:53

I guess not anyone has knowledge about it, but it seems like you get 0 points if you give a WO.

Example: 2 weeks ago i reached the semi of a tournament...but couldn t play it. I gave the WO to supermassy, and wondered myself why the semi is not mentioned in my record.

I did ask Rob...he means if you get a WO, you get 0 points, don t matter which round it is.

What do you think about this rule? How is it in reality? Does a player become 0 points if he can t play a semi for example? I don t know.

Cheers

Depends on the reason.

If a player is genuinely interested in playing - has attempted to schedule the match - but then can't due to personal reasons/commitments, etc. then he WOULD receive all points for the tournament.

Conversely, if a player has been active throughout, then disappears later - or shows no real sign of playing - then he would NOT get any points for the tournament.

Basically, the points/no points system is in place to provide members with the motivation to play. This is especially important in later rounds.

The marked was my case. Supermassy and me tried to play 3 times, we both were interested, but 1 time he couldn t make it, 2 times i couldn t. But we both tried anything to play...finally i had to give him the WO because the deathline was already 1-2 days before.

 PM the Host before it's closed so he can add the points manually. The system gives 0 for walkovers automatically.

Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

But what is the rule in real tennis? Do you get 0 points if you give someone a walkover.. Djokovic was given a walkover in quarterfinal of French open this year.. Does his opponent In quaterfinal got 0 points?

i cant imagine that, because if u give a WO in real life, its because u are injured or sth worse. U cant compare this with itst "oh im bored with ts4, no time this week".
