Yeah a great idea for those that don't already.
Personally I have the website in my bio - but I need to change it as it says intertospintour
.com not intertopspintour
.net
I will go about changing this ASAP.
I do think the best way is to send PM's to players who one may meet in exhibitions. I was personally scouted all those 2 years ago by an ITST member at the time.
On the odd occasion I do play the World Tour or Quick Match if I do happen to bump into a nice player, 90% of the time I send them an XBL message.
However, I do have some ideas for further promoting the site although probably not any ground breaking ones:
1) Perhaps send a
PM to ALL members who are registered on this site letting them know that TS4 is out (in case they didn't realize) and promoting the tour. Obviously some people may not play video games anymore or don't have the time anymore to play (etc) but of the say 500 generic PM's you send out even if you get a handful of signups it is a result!
2) Perhaps see if current active players of the TS4 tour would mind putting their "
Motto" (i think it is) on Xbox Live as a generic character permitting link. Some players already have this, I used to....for example:
InterTopSpinTour.net - Free Membership!
Some members may not want to, and that his fine, but I for one would be happy to do this. Currently it is "they call me Baggy" I think so I can move that to my bio etc
3) Can ITST
advertise on gaming sites? I guess it costs and have no idea what it entails (I am sure you do) but to advertise on gamespot and other sites. Is there the option to promote the site on related links under Topspin 4 gaming reviews?
4) I am sure there are
general gaming forums and whilst I have NEVER posted on any other forum in my life apart from ITST I guess there will be tons! Perhaps registering (e.g. Al, Cro) and promoting the link and a brief description of the tour / environment on there?
5) Again, this one is building on the bio you already mentioned, but perhaps ITST could for example create a standard 50 word
template that is consistent across all XBL bio's detailing the tour - I remember Rob ITST having something like this. Leaving enough space for members to have their own personal statement or phrase or whatever. Some people may not want to, but I think the devoted members (like myself) who not mind?
6) And, if I may, I think one of the biggest promotions for the tour is to create a "Phase 1"
SIM tour. Personally if I was a new member and had been scouted by a PM or the bio and come to ITST and seen that the tour is currently running like the world tour (sorry thats just my opinion) then true tennis simmers may be put off and not see the point in wasting time scheduling matches when they can just play the World Tour. I know its early days but it can't be that hard to pull something out of the sky (e.g. Power less than 70, offensive baseliner limited to 8, serve and volley minimum of 3 and silver coaches - or Whatever?) Better to have a tour and tweak it as you go along than wait 6 months when lots of interest in new members and TS4 will die down?
Al, I have faith in you on whatever you put together even if it is not the finished article.
Hope all the above helps, if not I tried
